As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Monday Madness... Monday, April 7

Holy jam-packed, super ozzing-with-action Monday! Never a dull day and never the same -- freakin' love it!!!

I've come to the conclusion that I will not and can not chase people.  I can't chase people because it drives me bonkers and I will not chase people because I can't want health and fitness for them more than they should want it for themselves.  They have to FIRST want it.  Training is hard but so is being unhealthy and out of shape -- it's up to them to chose their hard for themselves.

One of our new Hulkies is officially addicted to us, I'm convinced of it.  He arrived just shortly after 4pm and didn't officially leave until 9pm.  He left around 8pm but that was only to run home and grab some milk... hahaha.

I started training this new Hulkie today, a high school boy who is just too super cute with his pudgy cheeks and buzz cut hair.  He's a good kid and Snickers is convinced that this little guy is all goggly-eyed about me.  I don't care if he is or not, the young guy trains hard and was all about getting through my training so he could earn another high five.  After his training, when he went to return home, he realized he had lost his house key during training.  Everyone looked high and low for his key while he walked down the street, trying to contact his parents.  We ended up finding it and when I called him back to get it, the look on his face was priceless.  I had put one of our Hulk's Boxing key chains on it and he just looked so excited about it.  You couldn't help but get the warm fuzzies at his innocent happiness.

My two young sister Hulkies renewed their memberships tonight.  They've committed to 3 more months so that was pretty exciting.  They're my "girl gang"; love those girls!!!  For the most part, I've really taken it upon myself to focus mainly on the younger Hulkies so this means I get a good hearty daily dose of hugs, high fives and giggles.

Boo to losing our "Three Boys".  For the past several months we've had the privilege of training three guys who are all best friends.  They've gotten quite good with their boxing and one of them has just recently stepped into the ring for sparring.  Found out that they can no longer train anymore due to two of them getting jobs and one having his shift change.  I suppose my boo should really be a triple boo then -- boo, boo, booooooo!

We've been experiencing such high numbers lately -- I suspect everyone's itching to get their beach body bods ready for the summer.  Well, regardless of what it is, we're super busy.  Our golden hours remain 7-9pm, with tonight double digits walking through the door at 7pm.  Consequently, I'm starting to contemplate taking on an assistant to help work these two hours -- someone to work the front juice bar and deal with visitors when they come in.  It's such a break in the flow of how we run our club when a visitor walks in.  Don't get me wrong, we love having a visitor, but it means either Snickers or I have to drop whatever we're doing with whomever and cater to this random person.  Looks like there's another work-to-train position up for grab.

Did padwork with Snickers, it was a first and it was so incredibly challenging, both in a good way and a bad way.  I didn't know if I was more turned on by his skills or intimidated and scared because of them.  It was hot, let's just leave it at that... hahaha.

I may not be shaping the minds of tomorrow but I am surely shaping the bodies of tomorrow... and what amazingly strong bodies I am making.  Very cool to see members transform before my eyes like some crazy sci-fi movie.  Props to my Sushi Crew for their successful monthly weigh-in.  They were all smiles and high fives due to their success, awesome!

I train an amazing crew of Hulkies.  We may not have a huge high percentage of foreigners like we initially anticipated and originally had, we may not even have the original Korean members we started out with, but time has tweeked our crew and has proven to given us the best.  Those who have remained are extremely faithful and dedicated, and those who are new are surely seeing a much more positive and tweeked version of Hulk's.  These past few weeks many of our original members have rejoined and our "points" in our point game has been in the double digits.  Just today alone, we pulled an impressive eight points in this week's round in the point game.  We only have one more point to get this week and it's only Monday!!!
