As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Not Strong 'for a girl', Just Strong... Saturday, April 12

On account that I didn't get home until about 3:30am and then didn't fall asleep until roughly 4:30am, today was a very, very, VERY lazy day.  It was so lazy in fact that not only did I miss the entire morning but I woke up in the single digits -- about 2pm.   A good strong coffee and a kick from my fire-hot pepper and onion egg sandwich helped to wake me up but it surely was a long, slow, rough wake up.  But once I was up, oh boy was I up.

I now have a total of NINETEEN precooked meals stacked up in my freezer.
All my pots and pans have been thoroughly scrubbed.
Three loads of laundry, including one load at Hulk's, have all been washed and hung to dry.
The entire house got vacuumed, washed and dusted.

Later in the evening, we headed to Hulk's to train -- Snickers, WOW President, three Hulkies, and myself.

I felt a bit rough stepping into Hulk's, I mean it was a long 19hr day yesterday so my body felt a bit used and abused -- I felt off.  Tomorrow I'll take the day off boxing so today I told myself to suck it up and train hard.  No excuses.

I injured my right hand today; it hurts to make a fist.  And while Snickers jokes and says it's because I "hit like a man", I think I just worked too hard on my right hooks tonight.  Ironically, my right hook used to be my strongest punch and my left lacked coordination.  Junior Mint was quick to nag me on this and so he worked my left hook and left body shots like none other.  Consequently, my weakness is now my strength and I'm much more comfortable working my left than my right.

Tonight's Workout:
4 rounds of skipping + squats for in between round work
3 rounds of weighted shadow boxing (ankle weights and wrist weights, an extra 4kg) + backwards lunges
3 rounds of shadow boxing (no weights) + walking side sumo squats
8 rounds of sandbag + various ab exercises for in between round work
Spartan abs (= 300 reps) with 20 release push-ups in between each ab exercise set (= 100 push-ups)
2 rounds of skipping

= 20 rounds + Spartan abs/push-ups
= roughly 1hr and 20mins of training.

My main sponsor WOW commented tonight about me training hard like the guys but he's never met the girls I trained with back in Canada.  I do have quite the strong crew of fierce Femizons here at Hulk's though and he's met them all.  "I'm not strong for a woman," I told him, "I'm just strong".  He seemed to like my comment and so he agreed.  He and Snickers then joked about me not really being into typical 'girly things', like dressing up and being into yoga.  I can't stand yoga, seriously can't stand it, and I absolutely hate it when people suggest I try it.  I have tried it and you know what, I hated it.  I headed to the boxing club after because it left me feeling rather stir crazy.  Sure, many may find it very relaxing, but to me I find boxing to be very relaxing -- it's as exciting as it is relaxing.  And while some girls dance and some girls do yoga, others go cycling or work the elliptical, I prefer to punch things.  Boxing is just like ballet.  There's a lot of rhythm needed, detailed footwork, and certainly a lot of necessary coordination.  Sure, boxing is just like ballet, except in our sport the dancers hit each other.
