As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

One Special Day for Us All... Saturday, April 5

Can you believe it's been a handful of days past April Fool's Day and yet I'm STILL hearing about it?!

Hate, hate, HATE April Fool's Day.

Yesterday Snickers had to do "damage control" when his mother called, completely in tears over me not being pregnant.   Get over it please.  I mean, can we just drop it already.  Are you that cookie-cutter that you honestly believe that everyone has to get married and all couples have to pop out a baby?!  Seriously.  You do know that in the country where I am from, we've got single parents, same-sex couples having kids, and long-time married couples who have no intention of having children, right?!  Get with the program people, women aren't solely meant to cook, clean and procreate.  I cook for myself, Snickers often does the cleaning, and if anyone is going to procreate we'd hope it'd be Pyen Chi and not me.

And I interrupt this brief story to ask, when are any of them going to appologize to me?

I was definitely fed up with hearing the continuing details of this stupid pank -- this down-right not-funny-at-all prank, if you ask me -- so this is where I'm going to stop talking about it.  But I will say this, I am very happy to be NOT pregnant and NOT a cookie-cutter wife, just like I'm very proud my beautiful husband doesn't sport the same cookie-cutter mentality Mama Kim continually tries to push upon us.

So anyways, how's that for some Saturday morning venting... hahaha.  This baby-pushing thing is right up there with the Pesky Parkers, seriously.

Ya...  anyways....

Today we headed out of Cheonan for some cherry blossom fun in the sun.  Unfortunately the sun came and went periodically but that's ok.  Our "sunshine" came in the form of a new SUV delivered to us today -- Tonka Smash.  He's a beast of an SUV, an older one, and with his monster-sized tires that leave me literally having to jump up to get in, seeing him fly down the street towards me was definitely a ray of sunshine.  I was so happy.  So off to Daejon we headed with Tonka Smash taking us there.

KT&G out in Daejon has a massive company property lined to the max with amazing cherry blossom trees.  I told Snickers that the following blossoms reminded me of weddings, when the bride and groom walk out of the church and everyone throws confetti at them.  He didn't know what confetti was or the tradition of it so I had to explain it a bit.  He thought it rather funny that people throw paper at weddings so he took it upon himself to pick up a couple of handfuls of the blossoms at throw them up in the air.  "Look Amy," he said, "we're getting married...yaaaahhh!!!"  He kept on saying it over and over, that is until we got one too many looks and a couple approached us to congratulate us.  "When are you getting married?" they asked.  "Four years" Snickers said.  I laughed so hard.

We spent the entire day out of Cheonan and then returned in the evening.  I was going to head to Hulk's for some training but had noted what today was.  Today was a very special day for a very special person in our lives -- it was the one year anniversary for WOW and his boxing.  Exactly one year ago today he put on boxing gloves for his first ever boxing lesson.  Hulk's hadn't been made yet but was well into the renovation period when we started training WOW Motors boxing, outside behind his car shop.  He's come a long way since his early beginnings with his boxing.  He's become quite the avid boxer at our club, willing and wanting to take on anyone who cares to step into the ring with him.  For his birthday we bought him an expensive pair of both sandbag and mitt gloves.  His own set of gloves and mad boxing skills aren't the only thing he's acquired in the year though, the transformation his body has gone through has just been really impressive.  He's a beast of a man now and we're all so very proud of him.  Tonight marked his one year anniversary with boxing so Snickers and him spent it training together at Hulk's.
