As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

From Relaxing Overload to Pain Overdose... Monday, May 5

We postponed our Spring Flight camping trip with our Hulkies, bit discouraged with that but it is what it is, so we decided to head out to the countryside, just Snickers and I. The weather was beautiful and Snickers and I were absolutely refusing to let the disappointment of some ruin our day; we were determined to make the day awesome.

The day was better than awesome, it was flip-out fabulous.

It started with us dipping into our pockets to feed our usual road trip tradition -- coffee shop bought coffee -- and today we even indulged in buying a lunch to take with us. A little riverside picnic for two was exactly what I needed; it was so sweet. We sat there, just the two of us, eating our lunch and watching some fishermen fish in a large river.

It was Children's Day, we knew that, but I don't think Snickers had quite expected others to be thinking exactly what he was thinking when he surprised me with a trip out to the rail cars. Forty minutes to buy tickets and then another two hour wait just to get on a rail car -- no thanks. We stood in line for about 20 minutes, cuddling each other and sneaking kisses, before we decided that we should just come back another day. One of the beauties of our job is that we don't work until 2pm so we have the entire morning off. Mind you, most of our mornings are spent sleeping off the extra late nights at Hulk's or running errands, but if we planning accordingly then they don't have to be. We could free up a morning and return to the rail cars for a ride around the countryside, that'd be nice. The loop the rail cars take is an estimated 40 minutes but I suspect if we come in the morning when it's not so busy, Snickers and I could push it to at least an hour. The plan is to return either this week or next.

Most of our day was spent hanging out in the countryside, driving around, enjoying the weather, and sightseeing. We returned home around 5:30pm and then crashed for an early evening nap time.

Woke up at 7:30pm, just enough time to get ready and head out to boxing.

Hulk's is closed today and tomorrow on account of it being a red day (national holidays) but we wanted to head in for training. I had posted on our Hulk's Facebook group page that we'd be heading into the club and members would be welcome to come for Free Train. Free Train means they do their own thing and there's no actual one-to-one coaching by either Snickers or I. I also text messaged numerous members. Some who showed up didn't even know we had been closed today, they just happened to have come at the right time. A good turn out of members came for training tonight.

I have my half marathon this upcoming Sunday. In terms of getting in my running mileage, I'm totally not where I should be but I'm definitely getting in my leg weight training in. Tonight, after my rounds of boxing, I trained my legs. It was my last leg day before my upcoming next half marathon so I definitely pushed myself extra hard and went perhaps a bit too hardcore with it. Split Bulgarian squats with a 10kg weight, numerous laps around the club doing walking sumo squats, and don't even get me started on my tire leg exercises and Smith machine squats. My legs were on fire, my butt felt like it was in a perma-flex and I surely looked like I had just got off a bloated horse because I was so bull legged and stiff.... felt great!!! It was a gruelling workout and somewhat of a painful one too but there's definitely something to be said about the pleasure in pain; it's addicting. Work for the burn, respect the burn, love the burn... definitely.
