As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Attacking our Wish List... Saturday, June 21

The other day I typed out my Wish List for Hulk's and today I continued the wiring of money to all our suppliers for the things from my list that got purchased.  Ended up also wiring money for this not on my list but ended up needing/wanting to add to Hulk's.  Consequently, in having to wire money and knowing that'd be the first on my list to do today, it was so very hard to wake up today.

What's even harder is the fact that Snickers and I, during our pillow talk last night, had decided to start renovations six days earlier as in T-O-D-A-Y, as in cancel any plans of rest and relaxation for the weekend. We decided to do so not because we're glutons for punishment but because at our late night after hours seafood party last night, we found out that more Hulkies than we knew it know about our "secret" renovations, aka our belated birthday gifts we were purchasing.  So, with many of our regular members knowing the inside secret scoop, it turns out it wasn't much of a secret after all.  I figured this might happen because many of our Hulkies have friended each other on Facebook and/or hang out together because of having met at Hulk's.

MY WISH LIST FOR HULK'S (with crossed out things being that which we've purchased):

More 4kg, 6g and 8kg kettlebells
Several pairs of 1kg and 2kg dumbbells --> we got 2kg kettlebells instead
A couple of more 1kg and 2kg medicine balls --> got another full set (1-5kg)
Lat pull-down bar
Cable row for the cable machine
New inbody check scale --> decided to arrange to have ours serviced/recalibrated
A barbell jungle gym --> COMING BUT STILL IN DESIGNING STAGE
Steel bar construction for our sandbags -->  COMING BUT STILL IN DESIGNING STAGE
Three more sandbags
Two upper cut sandbags --> purchased one
A speed bag

Two new pairs of Coach padwork mitts
4 corner ring pads
New ring ropes

Personalised water cups for regular members/those with locker rentals

Another shoe shelf for club indoor shoes --> CURRENTLY BEING MADE
Paint for the medicine ball shelves and glove shelves
A window that opens, to replace the side office one that doesn't
Hulk amateur fight uniforms
More large plants
Two rowing machines
A part time or "Mondays-only" assistant --> got a padwork helper
New boxing boots (for me)

ENDED UP ALSO PURCHASING (some awaiting delivery):
Two treadmills
A punching bag
Doorknobs for our cabinets
5 yoga mats
Additional fencing (for pup's corridor)
2 stepping stools
Folding door for the bathroom supply room
Folding door for the guy's shower room
Table for the locker room
Motion sensor for the front door
2 air door machines
5 watt light bulbs
2 large fans

We treated ourselves to a late wake up, knowing full well that we'd be getting a lack of sleep this weekend, and once we were up it was go-go-go with the renovations.  Started around 1pm.  Snickers called it a night around 3am but I continued until 5:30am.  I have to be up in 2.5hrs for a pinky-swear promise I made to a friend; I told her I'd show up at the Sunday morning breakfast club meeting.  It's at 9am which in the life of a three dog owner means I have to wake up early to first deal with them before actually getting ready.
