As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Much to Do but Nothing Really Done... Wednesday, June 4

Today's plans for my "day off" included checking off as many as possible items off the following list.  But, as you can see from the things crossed out, I didn't quite attack and conquer as many as I had anticipated....

BEHIND-THE-SCENES WORK AT WORK:

  1. update the member registry and books
  2. calculate new members' starting point and goals
  3. rewire the Internet connection for the side office computer
  4. bring the shoe cabinet from the old apartment to Hulk's
  5. print off new member photos and add into registry
  6. wash all the club towels and hang up to dry
  7. deal with Secom
  8. wipe down all the boxing gloves
  9. prioritize how we'll be using the old key deposit
  10. enter in new numbers into the club phone
  11. call around for equipment/supply pricing
  12. download program files on the new office computer
  13. reorganize the computer files
  14. backup all current and updated files
  15. pick out some new 8track playlists
  16. meeting with local computer techie
  17. translate certain circuit posters already up in the club
  18. clean ALL the mirrors in the club
  19. wash down the back room
  20. finish organizing the stuff in the storage room

I only did end up doing 8 out of the 20 things on my list but those eight things took a total of three and a half hours between Snickers and I.  I'm anticipating #18-20 to EACH take a good hour to complete which goes hand-in-hand with me anticipating me procrastinating on them and leaving them till Sunday night to do.

Instead of taking on and taking down all the things on my to-do list, Snickers had other plans for us.  His plans were as follows:

  1. Go to the CGV theater to catch a flick
  2. Stop by ETraders to stock up our juice bar
  3. Visit his niece
  4. Pick up the sushi soup at Mama Kim's house
  5. Go out for dinner

Snickers had bought us movie tickets to see an early afternoon showing of  "Edge of Tomorrow".  I've never been a fan of Tom Cruise, I'm rather anti-crazy Cruise, and I'm not really into action movies but I have to admit that I really thought the story execution was amazing.  I loved the concept of time that they played with.  Anyway, after the movie and after stopping by ETraders, we headed to Ssangyong-Dong to visit his niece and it turned into us checking three things off our list at once.  His little niece was at Mama Kim's house and while we were there Mama Kim decided to cook us dinner.  After playing with his niece, Snickers and I napped in the other room while she eagerly prepared dinner for us.
