As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Rest and Relaxation Will Have to Wait... Sunday, June 15

It was one of those days were I wanted nothing more than to do nothing but lay around the house, let the hours slip on by while I did absolutely nothing and absolutely nothing more than just nothing.  I wanted to stack up some hours of much needed sleep, let my bed head rule the day, potentially not even brush my teeth or even so much as move from the position I woke up in.

Ya... that didn't happen.

The truth about today is I was totally exhausted from this past week and I figured I'd used this day to totally overdose on rest and relaxation.  I didn't want to go out, didn't want to change out of my tank top and leggings, and definitely didn't want to put forth any energy beyond breathing, eating and sleeping.

...not before I let my friend drop by to pick up something she had asked to borrow, that is.

Made an exception in my day to open the club doors and let my friend come in.  She had asked to borrow my scale and, well you know us gals, girls tend to chat and that's exactly what happened.  No sooner was I waving by to her from the front club doors but who should most randomly show up but Trainer Stark and his new girlfriend.  It was the first time I was meeting her and what a first impression.  There she stood all posh and pretty and there I stood, wet hair, tank top and leggings.  Yes, I know leggings aren't pants but I also know nothing really phases my friends now with my clothing and lack there of it.

Next thing I knew it Snickers was asking Trainer Stark and his girlfriend if they wanted coffee.  Coffee meant they were staying and that's exactly what happened.  I made everyone coffee and we sat around sipping on coffee and shooting pool.

An hour later they left and so did Snickers.

So much for my day of lazy rest and relaxation.

"You do your training while I'm out and then we'll go on a date later," Snickers said as he left Hulk's.

That's exactly what I did, I boxed.

I made up for my lack of motivation to do anything but veg out by cranking the club music extra loud.

After training, I got all dolled up and then Snickers picked me up for our date.  We headed out to our favourite coffee shop across town and then walked around downtown.  Snickers surprised me by buying me some sweet clothes.  He got me this super adorable polka dot one piece jumper that is totally not my style but then again now days all I wear is exercise clothes and leggings.  I must admit here, that despite being a girl, I absolutely hate shopping for clothes, that is unless it's for training clothes.  I'm like a fish out of water when it comes to picking out things I like but ever since we started Hulk's, I really don't see the point in buying nice clothes because I am always in training wear.  I don't see the point in buying clothes for the off chance that I might wear them on my day off.  More importantly though, I much rather save my money or put it to better use.  I threw most of my clothes out when we moved and Snickers keeps on urging me to at least buy a few essentials.

Our date ended with us returning to Hulk's and working.  Again, so much for rest and relaxation.  There are various renovations that we've been wanting to do and there are many that we've done and are continually working on.  It's always just one thing after another.  We're always doing something to the club, fixing up this or changing that, and though I'm pretty sure no one really notices the after hours work we do, I know they'd notice if we didn't do the work we do do.  Today it was the floor we worked on.  I estimate it'll take a good 3-4 days to fully do so tonight we started on it.
