As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Sparring Goes from Friendly and Fun to Example Setting

It was Sparring Day at Hulk's today and, to start it off, our Hulkies sent in one of our strongest fighters to fight Snickers -- WOW.
A former member now a returnee member was next to take his turn.
Can you recognize who it is?!  Yes, it's Mouse Doctor!!!
As for the fighter in the pic on the right, he's one of our long standing members who just recently fell in love with sparring.  At first he was super nervous but now, woozers, that guy is on f-i-r-e!!!  He's doing so awesome!!!!
It's always so great to see members step in the ring to spar, especially those who at first were all so nervous and abrehensive about it all.
Nothing but props, positive vibes and respect for those who step in the ring.
...even those who take a nasty shot and perhaps because they DO take some nasty shots.
This has got to be my favourite pic of the night -- Snickers sparring with a female Hulkie.
She was so super nervous and so super giddy over being able to step in the ring.
"Where do I hit?!" she asked me.  Leave it to me to sarcastically respond with, "Well, if all else fails, you can always hit yourself"... hahaha.
The last of the members to spar stepped into the ring well after the allotted sparring hours with Snickers had finished and Snickers had gone a full 2 hours.
I knew, Snickers knew, other members knew, and he knew too... Snickers wasn't going to let him pull a fast one on him but waiting it out.  You're talking about Snickers, a former champion who is used to 12 round fights with other champion fighters.
And tonight's last sparring match reminded us all why in fact Snickers is a champion.
Don't ever underestimate the champ.  It's like playing with fire, you're going to get burnt.
