As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Nothing like a Last Minute Fight Notice... Saturday, June 28

About two months ago Snickers call Road FC -- the intro league to UFC (MMA fighting) -- and asked if he could be scheduled an amateur fight.  They scheduled him a fight but then cancelled when they realized he hadn't fought a MMA fight before and had only fought in boxing bouts.  A month later, Snickers called again, this time they said they'd schedule him a fight.  In the whole confusion of random people from their side calling us and us calling them, the fight never did get officially scheduled.  Then it did, well kind of.  We got word early last week that he'd be having a fight either for this weekend or a few weekends from now but when we called on Thursday evening, they then cancelled on us.
This afternoon they called and told him they needed him to fight... tomorrow.

So now Snickers has a MMA tomorrow down in Soon Chun.  It's a 3 hour drive and we have to be there for 10am so we'll be waking up at 6 and leaving at 7.

I'll refer back to what I said yesterday, how I don't doubt Snickers talent, he's got such awesome raw talent, but MMA fighting is more than just boxing.  It's a mix of all the fighting sports and tomorrow he's going to step into a cage with an opponent that may also know only one fighting sport or may have mastered many; we just won't know until tomorrow.  I know Snickers used to excel in Tae Kwon Do in public school and he also has his fair share of street fighting, but he's no longer a student, those days are long gone as so are his street fighting days.

Tomorrow's fight will definitely be interesting.  For his sake, I hope he wins, but for my own sake I hope he has a hard time getting that win.  I don't want this to be a thing on repeat.  The thought of someone possibly kicking his head just doesn't interest me nor does the thought of someone pinning him down and possibly breaking his arm.  I rather him stick to boxing, only arms and only hits above the waist.  None of this almost-anything-goes brutality.  I'm fine with watching UFC fighters fight on TV but they're not my husband and I've seen the damage these guys endure, no thanks!!!

More importantly however, is the fact that if he does continue then he'll have to go to an official MMA club to learn more.  From a business perspective, it just doesn't make sense for he as a coach to go to another club and consequently help their sales, image and popularity when he could and should be staying here at Hulk's and focusing on our club's sales, image and popularity.  He said he wanted to get back in the ring awhile ago but with KBC and KBA dragging out their heated legal argument, he's been forced to wait it out as am I.  Being upset with KBC and KBA is no reason to totally turn away from them, from the boxing community, and join the MMA community.  I'm just as upset with KBC and KBA, look I can't even sign with my new manager until they settle their legal issues.  If he's wanting to fight this fight tomorrow because he's curious whether or not he can do it or perhaps he's suffering from "boxing blue balls" (not being scheduled a fight for so long), then that's one thing but if it's because he's given up on boxing because of KBC/KBA or whatever then I'm concerned.
