As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Time is Flying... Friday, May 30

This time last week I was running on a total lack of sleep, a pure need for extra strong coffee (and an extra strong scrub in the shower too I should add), and I was trying to juggle both making my new home at Hulk's with managing the club on my own.

A week later and my new home is 99.3% settled in and business hasn't skipped a beat.

What a difference a week has made.

And on that note, this upcoming week we'll be celebrating our boxing club's birthday both with a special dinner out and then the next day with prizes and a cake cutting event for members and guests.

This time next week we'll be all settled into our new home at Hulk's and working on our second year in business.  The struggle to hit the first year mark and the fear of not hitting it will be a thing of the past. Korea's turnover of new businesses is incredible and for us new business owners and young entrepreneurs it is incredibly discouraging.  You can't help but hope for the best, expect the worst and prepare to land somewhere in between.
