As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Hulkies to the Rescue, Rescuing Us Coaches from a Hard Week

I don't believe in Santa anymore but I do believe that you get what you give and I do believe I am quite blessed with those in my life so I must be doing something right.
Today I received an early Christmas gift, a surprise and oh so very sweet Christmas gift, that left me a bit teary eyed to tell you the truth and as revealed in the picture above.
It was from SJ, the oldest member on our amateur boxing team.
Inside the classy looking box were two bottles of Chilean wine.  He then gave me a second box, one with four drinking glasses in it, and then he gave me a third box (see my entry below about that).
I had scheduled a Crossfit Challenger class for today but didn't think members would honestly show.
It's been a rough week with the weather so attendance has been low, but low and behold members came flying through the door tonight, asking if it was too late to join my class!!!

I've been testing out and trying new things with Crossfit this week and so I continued doing so with tonight's challenger class.  For tonight's class, I had set up four stations with two exercises each and appointed a set amount of reps each Hulkie was expected to do.  After they completed each station once, they then had to run 2 laps around the club.  They did 3 sets of 4 stations.
Station #1:  Tire Jumps and Tire Flips
(2 tire options: the small tire (35kgs/77lbs)  and the large tire (250kgs/550lbs)
Station #2: Hanging Leg Raises and Core Twists
Stations #3: Double High Ropes and Speed Ropes
Station #4:  Squat Ball Tosses and Shoulder Press Tosses
(4 ball options: 2kg, 3kg, 4kg, and 5kg)

After the Crossfit Challenger class was over and done with and members had showered, we then got out all those sausages and started our Sausage & Social!!!
I joked and asked if everyone was huddled by the coal heater because it was cold or because the sausages looked and smelt so delish.
It was chilly but I think it's fair to say the sausages definitely won them over.
 Selfies with some Hulkies.
Wait a minute my hungry mini Hulkie... let me take a selfie first!
Group selfie... hahaha... I'm being squashed here!!!

After we finished off all those sausages we decided to pose a little challenge -- a plank competition.
Girls vs. girls and guys vs. guys for today's two Advent calendar gifts.
First up, it was us ladies to hit the mat and give it our all with planking out.
Then it was the guys' time to plank out.
Can you see that?  Look at that!  Look at that phone screen timer.
It reads 6 minutes and 32 seconds and these two guys are STILL planking!!!
Even after the much-anticipated winner (Wow) dropped, this mini Hulkie continued to plank.
A MINI HULKIE BEAT EVERYONE!!!
