As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Counting the Days... Thursday, January 15

Day one of jelly bracelet action and the first person to receive one was one of my mini Hulkies.  He had caught sight of my jelly bracelet and became increasingly curious about it when I showed him that the green one I was wearing was glow in the dark.  A fellow Hulkie then offered to buy two, for herself and one for him, the curious mini Hulkie.

The suggested donation for a jelly bracelet is $2 because it cost $1.90 to make one. However, because fundraising isn't such a big thing here in Korea, they don't really understand the concept of donation so many are misinterpretting the suggested donation as the price.  Having to explain to the difference to them is a bit frustrating as is consequently making even with the bracelets given out so far.  I'm giving it a few days before word gets out and members talk among themselves.  They'll figure it out soon enough.

93 days until I complete my first full marathon and just the other day my running partner Rocket returned from her trip.  She's now on holidays from teaching so she'll be joining me for many of my morning runs when she can.  Yesterday we kicked off full marathon training with a morning 9.56km run.  It's super hard for me to get out of bed in the morning and not because I'm tired, because I'm not tired, but instead it's because I'm just so warm in my cozy bed and the rest of the club is super cold.  Rocket meeting up here at Hulk's for morning runs together means I have no choice but to get up now, so that's good.  I wake up and then instantly close my eyes, hoping that it's really not already morning, and then I tell myself to get up and get a quick coffee before gearing up for running.  Come 10am, ready or not, Rocket arrives.

No word yet about the postponement of my fight in Laos but everyday I'm training as if the clock is ticking and every day I am pushing it, mentally and physically with my training.  It's hard at times to stay motivate and continually train with such intensity because I have no idea when or if this fight will ever happen.  Today was originally suppose to be the weigh-in for the fight and I was overly distracted by this thought today.  I still have no idea why the fight was postponed, all I know is I'm eager to fight.  I refuse to call up KBC and get them to sign me for a fight just yet, I want to fight outside of Korea for now.
