As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Representing Hulk's Boxing in the Blue Corner

Headed out to the KBI amateur tournament in Seoul with a solid, positive crew of Hulkies.
Kato's first game was bout #22 so we sat around waiting for that.
His first opponent never ended up showing though -- I vouch it was because of Kato's impressive ranking that intimidated him.  Regardless of why though, it was frustrating for him to not be given his due first fight for the day.
His second fight was bout #47 so we waited for that number to roll around.
Finally it was his turn, his chance to step into the ring and show his stuff.
As it turns out, the fight right before his was that of UP Boxing.
Junior Mint was a no show though, instead he sent the Cheonan Bulldog to act as coach for the day.
Kato got called repetively for holding.
Kato fought a good fight but it clearly wasn't his best performance.  He had been sick the latter part of this past week so stepping into the ring with less than par condition showed.
He was too gentle, not aggressive enough with getting in his punches, and the fact that it was only a two round fight made it necessary for him to get in there and get his points.
Kato didn't win his second fight today and that is more than ok by us.
Kato ended up not joining us for dinner but we thought it appropriate we go and celebrate his efforts.
We're super proud of him.  Despite his poor condition this past week, he kept his promise and did his best.  You can't expect more than someone's best.
He still remains one of Cheonan's amateur boxers to watch -- 6 fights, 5 wins with 3 of them being by TKO.
