Sooooo... I got my hair chopped, about 3 inches chopped off my already short, short pixie cut hair, and it wasn't until well into the evening, after I had trained about 20+ members, that someone noted it. My mini Hulkie assistant who is only 9, asked me in her best possibly English "Coach Amy hair cutting?" Kato was the second to comment about my hair.
I was pretty sure the chop was obvious and it's not like I was fishing for compliments, it's just it was a big chop and I was kind of feeling a bit insecure about it. I just wanted to know I didn't look like the Chinese boy some continually tell me I look like. Intelligence here, my friend, would kick that insult to the curb instantly because I live in Korea, wouldn't I look like a Korean boy, but it's something that has stuck with me and been brought up more than I'd like to admit it has.
Anyways...
I thought I'd try to make it more obvious that I had done something different to my looks by throwing on a friend's sweater that had a face framing collar. I was sure it'd bring more attention to my hair because of how it drew the attention up to the collar and neck area, my face. This only resulted in a couple of back-handed compliments and unusual compliments too.
K-Gere: Did you lose weight? Your face looks thin.
Me: No, I got my hair cut.
K-Gere: Oh, you look skinny now... look good.
[Does this mean that I didn't look good before and that I looked pudgy?!]
Me: Do I look different?
Hulkie: Yes. Did you get a new sweater? You look great.
Me: No, no new sweater...
Hulkie: Did you get new leggings?
Me: No... but do I still look great?
Hulkie: Clothes or no clothes, you would still look great... wait, what?!
