As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Hulk's Under the Microscope of Three Students... Tuesday, May 19

Today we had the pleasure of being interviewed, studied, questioned about, and written up by three students from a local university.  They're all sports major students requiring to do a case study on a job/place of interest in their major, for future career purposes.  These three students specifically picked us, Hulk's Boxing, so they called us up and told us they were coming.  It was quite flattering to tell you the truth, three students being so interested in what we've created and have going on here that they've decided to do their school project on, very cool.  I should note that this is the second group of university students who have done a case study on Hulks...and I was just as flattered with today's second time around as I was the first.

The three arrived tonight around 6pm, stayed till a bit before 8pm, and took pictures of pretty much everything and anything at the club -- us coaching, members training, trophies, our side office, our Coach's Corner, and the juice bar menu.  They even got in a solid boxing lesson from Snickers.  For the most part I directed them around the club, giving them the grand tour and explaining each and every part of it.  Even our four-legged security crew were introduced to them -- Pyen Chi is our club mascut, Pacquiao is the head of security, and Balboa is our club cheer leader and energy-lifter-upper because who doesn't smile when they see a Chichihau jump as high as your waist, exactly.

It was nice to share our club with them because usually we're just showing the club to friends and new members, but to show it on this level is so different.  Some days it feels like we're still so amateur at this, at running a business, but then there are days like today when we feel like pro stars and totally in control.

Next month, June 2nd, marks the two year anniversary of Hulk's and as pro star as I feel today about running Hulk's I've been totally procrastinating with planning anything for it.  Now if only Pyen Chi could wait to have her babies on that exact date than that would be absolutely perfect!
