As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Starting a Family Tradition... Sunday, May 17

Tonight's family dinner party was actually supposed to go down yesterday but on account we attended the cooking class that served us a little bit of veggies with a whole lot of sugar, salt and oil, both Snickers and I were still very much in pain this morning so plans got pushed.

No church for me today.  The only royal throne I went to today was the toilet and I spent more time there today than I did at last week's royal throne church service.

A cup of coffee to help flush my system and an overdose of fibre to soak up all that nasty oil was exactly what I needed, what I was craving and what I went in search of today.  Found just what I was looking for at a local brunch restaurant across town.

As for the family dinner party, that went down tonight and it was fun because the two youngest of the family are no longer babies but instead are walking, talking little people. The youngest nephew is super cute and he had fun pretending to feed me strawberries all night.  And then, when I pretended to have a stomachache from too many pretend strawberries, my little niece pretended to nurse me back to health.

Yes, I'm still not a fan of babies, the two-legged kind of babies that is.

Tonight's family dinner party was for the cameras but it was also to discus an idea I mentioned a week ago, the idea being that of a bi-weekly family potluck dinner together.  Snickers is always pushing me to become closer with his family but I'm just not that kind of person, not even with my own family.  I love my independence and I personally don't need the constant reassurance that they love me and care for me.  My attempt at trying, for Snickers' sake, was suggesting the start of a family tradition -- a bi-weekly Sunday evening potluck party where one person is assigned the main dish and all others bring an accompanying dish, like a side dish or dessert.  Tonight's family dinner was at Mama Kim's house so she bought all the food, prepared and cooked, and then she cleaned up too.  To do this bi-weekly is too much and I personally don't think it's fair but a potluck, who doesn't love a potluck.  Snickers can test out his cooking abilities and I can bring some kind of western food I've created.  Moreover, with the nice weather upon us, we could take our potluck party outside like out of town to the beach.
I think my potluck party idea was a great idea but Snickers' youngest sister added to the greatness of it by attaching a penalty to if.  The deal is if someone (by "someone" we mean one of us adults, not the kids) is a no-show then they have to put $50 into the Kim bank -- a family bank fund that we will use on a later date together, like for a little family trip or outing.

Family bi-weekly potluck dinner parties to start next month.
