Planning for my one year sabbatical in Canada has proven to be as exciting as it is nerve-racking and no sooner am I super stoked and eager to start it then my tummy fills up with butterflies as my nerves get to me. What happens if I can't pull this off, can't pull my weight with making my monthly bills and my plan to totally drown myself in my boxing flops?!
This is either going to either be super awesome or not so good. I can't see it being so bad, thankfully, and I know no matter what happens I'll be able to bank it as an experience, a canceling of a lot of "what ifs", and a means of learning a lot of lessons that I couldn't have and wouldn't have learnt in Korea. Having said this, I sat down today and started to write out some kind of plan for Canada. I really want to use this year to fully develop myself and explore my potential. It'll be very much a mind, body and soul adventure and I've got big plans for each part, plans to help me expand and explore myself in all areas,... here are some of them:
MY MIND....
- For once be a participant at a boxing club, not the one running it
- Switch Over my Korean Pro License to that of a Canadian one
- Educate myself...
- Work at a boxing club in Canada
- Acquire my First Aid with CPR license
- Acquire my Personal Training Specialist License (PTS)
- Acquire my Fitness Instructor Specialist License (FIS)
- Attend some Running Room clinics
MY BODY...
- August 12-16th -- CanFit Expo in Toronto
- September 5th -- Pure Protein Night Race in Toronto
- Train under the direction of a new coach/manager and at a different club
- Join the Running Room's running club
MY SOUL...
- Be able to focus 100% on what I love, boxing
- Live away from all of silliness of Korea's social and cultural pressures
- Live with a roommate
- Get involved with some kind of volunteering
- October 18th -- Volunteer gig at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon
- Attend my old church, Faith Sanctuary
- Celebrate the holidays...
- Hand out candy at Halloween
- Attend my nieces' birthday parties -- be a present aunt
- First Christmas in Canada since 2005!!!
- Sing Christmas carols
- Ring in the new year loud and proud
