As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Holidays Still Suck... Monday, September 7

I hated holidays in Korea and I still hate them.  Thanks Korea.  Thanks for making them meaningless, empty days where nothing happened beyond me sleeping in, trying hard to avoid family function-related stress, and wanting the day to end.

Okay, so I can't really blame Korea, I mean how can you blame an actual country, but I can definitely blame Snickers and his family for their lack of interest in holidays that are usually exaggerated and exhausted in Canada, like Christmas, New Years and Valentine's Day.  I celebrated holidays with our Hulkies at Hulk's but it was always intimidated by me.  Canadians know how to do holidays but I've Koreanized so much that I found myself complaining at the fact that so many businesses had closed today.

Needed to do some banking today... Closed.
Needed to put more money on my phone at Wind...closed.
Needed to buy shorts for the beach...closed.

So what did I do, you ask, I went boxing.  I've got a key now so I used it.  I showed up at 7:30am like I always do, wanted to keep routine, and I tried.  I am nursing a very bruised knuckle so using only my left on the sandbag was rough.  Right when I was locking up and leaving the club, I ran into the Stick.  Apparently he's got a touch of Korean in him too.

After training I met up with my boy J for some fun in the sun but I turned out to be a typical Korean workaholic and struggled with just laying there in the sand and doing nothing beyond enjoying the down time.  Caught a lot of sun though...woozers.  My pale pasty skin has been lacking some summer sun love but it overdosed today and I know I'll be waking up sour tomorrow.

In the evening I met up with another friend of mine and we headed to the lake shore.  Buddy boy is vegan and has been teaching me about it...note here I don't think I could ever give up my love for meat.  I am crazy about my chicken.  Anyways, he's got some awesome nutritional insight on food beyond his vegan lifestyle.

Buddy boy brought this massive veggie thingy-a-ma-jigga dish that pure delish.  It had French fries under what felt like my weight in an array of veggies -- tomatoes,
