As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Dead Serious, No Joking Around... Friday, April 1

Coach Perez wants to chop off his index finger ...this isn't an April Fools Day joke.  This is serious.

A few months back he was helping a friend with a table saw and, well, an accident happened.  He had to undergo surgery to save his finger. They took a skin graph from his arm so he has scarring.  He's been undergoing physio for it but it's a slow process that neither he nor his boxing career have time for. And here I thought my hardcore training regime and dropping everything in Korea to persue my boxing was hardcore.  I've been beat by a finger....seriously.

Today's Schedule:
6:30-7:30am -- Personal training at my client's condo.
8:30am -- Drop off package for a friend.
9:00am -- Running at System Fitness.
10:30am -- Errands on route home: light groceries, buy TTC pass, pay rent.
1-3pm  -- Boxing training with sparring at Hardknocks Boxing Club.
7:30-9:30pm -- Team training at Clancy's Boxing.

Arrived home from Clancy's shortly after 10pm on account that my boy Fresh at was sweet enough to drive me home after we trained.  It would have been a long, brutal bus ride home in all that wet clothing, yikes, if hadn't helped me out.

I had taken yesterday off of training, a rest day... aka a "think-all-day-about-training-but-don't-actually-train" day.  I was almost tempted to go for a run and hit the weights at a local condo but I ended up letting the lazy vibes hit me right on the head and so I didn't train.  So with yesterday being a complete full day off of training, you best believe I came back stronger and harder with my training today in comparison to earlier this week.  I think it's partly a bit of guilt of having taken a day off and partly me believing I owe it to myself, mentally and physically, to really step up my game after a day off.  Well, that's exactly what went down today as you can tell by my schedule.  I would have gone running outside like I have been but seeing that I was already at System dropping something off, well, I figured I'd jump on the treadmill for a little run.

H-a-r-d-e-s-t run e-v-e-r... on account of the fact you're not going anywhere or have anything really to look at beyond your fellow treadmill runners running beside you and all wondering what the heck to look at, it's a boring run; a hard run to mentally push yourself through without getting bored stupid.  No more treadmill runs for me thanks, ...that is unless the guy beside me wants to compete for numbers and then I'm down.
