As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

No, This Is Love... Tuesday, August

When I first saw the location at Pasong Tamo Extension here in Makati, I was in love.

It was perfect.

It was this massive big space; an empty shell with crazy potential.

That was back when I wanted to go big with Empowered.  I thought I needed to go big because I had big ideas, big things I wanted to put in my clubhouse so it only seemed logically that I needed a big space for my big ideas.

Now I've decided to go smaller, a decision I made after eating some humble pie with a very wise man I knew only had my best interest in mind and whom is quite the respected and experienced business man.

Bigger doesn't always mean better.  Smaller is safer, true, but it's not really about that.  Going smaller gives me a little more leeway with testing the waters and then expanding upon things that work and adapting that which doesn't without the huge price tag such ideas, expansions and adjustments come with.  More importantly though, it's about growing into what I want Empowered to become as oppose to starting off trying to instantly be that.

Today I went location hunting with a lady I had a meeting with last Friday.  Her husband just opened his own business, Dr. Wine, and she's an established real estate broker.  I met up with her in BGC and then she took me to four different locations.  At our meeting on Friday she had ranted and raved about this specific location and although I thought it too big for what I was looking for I told her I'd take a look at it.

Now I know I'm in love... I love, love, LOVE it.  It was everything she said it was plus so much more.

It's a bit bigger than what I need and it's not exactly in my budget but it's got the cool factor and the set up is absolutely perfect.  Because it use to be a fight club, it has the bathrooms done so plumping isn't an issue.  The cool factor it has is the loft they built in the middle of the floor.  I could design it to look like a tree house and that'd be wicked.  It'd be a clubhouse in every sense of the word, seriously.  Now to crunch the numbers and make it work.

I pretty much exhausted myself tonight working on the numbers.

I'm always crunching numbers.

Yesterday it was dealing with getting a quote from a possible supplier regarding the weight training equipment and tonight it was working on my monthly expenses so that I could make this potential location a reality.

If you're reading this, please keep your fingers, arms, legs, and ankles crossed that I can make this work.  I honestly can't see a place that would be more perfect for the Empowered Clubhouse.
