Working at home ain't easy.
Sure it's great that I get to sit buck naked and sip on coffee all day in the comfort of my own home but it makes it hard for me to fight off the distractions that come with not having anyone to call me out on my procrastination or lack of focus.
Balboa for one makes it exceptionally hard.
The struggle to not be side tracked into cuddling with him, wow... the struggle is real.
Of my long list of work to do, discussing the possible fight in Toronto, Canada was on my list to do. I needed to discuss it with two people: my main business mentor and a boxing coach here in Makati.
The possible fight is for November 11th and I was approached about it last week. It's rather ironic when I think of the fact that Canada told me I was too small as a fighter and couldn't find me a fight in the two years I lived there in between Korea and the Philippines and now they're calling me up. I thought perhaps this was a blessing in disguise because I do need to get back to Canada to address a health concern of someone I love but tonight I sat down with my business mentor to talk about it.
When it comes down to it, beyond it being my plane ride into the country to see someone, I really have nothing to benefit from this fight. It'll require me to go there probably about 2 weeks prior to the fight, because of jet lag and to try to readjust to the cold temps of Canada... remember, I'm coming in from Southeast Asia. It's in the 30's here while in Canada it's already below 20 the past couple of days. Two weeks is big chunk of time to give up. That's two weeks less for me to further my business venture and all the progress I've done here. Two weeks away means a temporary stop in my Empowered boot camps too. Then there's the fact that my current coach at Elite has never even been outside of the Philippines so it's going to be a big shock on his body not to mention his wallet because he will have to then buy clothes for the cold weather that he probably will never wear again. Moreover, taking this fight really does nothing here for building my brand here and creating more hype for my business. I don't live in Canada anymore, I'd be the "away fighter" all over again, and I have no business there. If my business and branding is what I'm going for then it'd be best for me to get a fight here in the Philippines.

I met tonight with a fellow pro fighter, a male fighter who runs his own boxing club here in Makati. I've trained with him before and he's also a friend. Tonight we met at a coffee shop to discuss the fight and I had noted that I'd love to train with him but I simply can't afford it. He offered to "take care" of all my training which would mean I'd be training at his boxing club and using the fitness gym his club is associated with for my functional weight training. That would be awesome and I was so flattered but I think my best approach would be to find a good balance between working with Coach Bogs at Elite Boxing and then him, Coach Kristian, at Hernandez Boxing. The two coaches are very different in their approach to training me, Coach Kristian is very technical, and I think it'd the perfect blend to make me a better fighter.
I ended the meeting with Coach Kristian by taking him up to Elite Boxing where I then introduced him to Coach Bogs.
