As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Office Work Day... Thursday, October 5

Thursdays are meant for office work for me.  Doing all that "fun" background stuff that comes with launching your own business and trying to propel it forward which means it's spent answering emails, typing up business plans, setting up meetings, going to meetings, and every thing in between.  Thursdays and Saturdays are the only two days of the week when I don't actually box with Saturday being the only day off I have of training.  On Thursdays I do sprints or I go to the boxing club to do functional weight training with the kettle bells but the rest of the day, the entire day for that matter, is spent sitting at my kitchen table with my computer popped open and coffee in hand.

Today's mission was to create two new business cards, one for my partner and one for myself.

Confession here... almost all of my photos are edited via my cell phone, it's true.  It's ghetto but it's true and unless I told you else what you would have never suspected it.

Today's office work...

  • Contact the Korean Boxing Commission.
  • Respond to emails regarding Hulk's Boxing.
  • Contact some coaches in Korea.
  • Work on English/Korean translations for Hulk's Boxing.
  • Create a simple teaser ad/cover shot for Empowered.
  • Repair one of my medicine balls.
  • Repair the toe of one of my boxing boots.
