As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Approaching the Start Line... Sunday, April 1

Things are about to possibly get intense with my training so today I took it upon myself to head into boxing for a sweat sess alone.  No coach.  Training camp starts Monday despite not really knowing if I can sort out the legalities involved with this potential fight.

Tomorrow morning I have my first pre-fight weigh-in.  I haven't weighed myself for months now which has been a big refreshing break from the weekly weigh-in's I had for years in Korea with my sponsors.

I'm guessing I'll weigh in around 125lbs.

The fight is for 108lbs.

No problem.

I like the challenge.  I live for the challenge but sometimes I think I like the challenge more than the actual fight.  The fight excites and scares me all in the same breath.  It's like a roller coaster.  You know it's going to turn your stomach and that it'll scare you, so much so that you'll grip that seat bar as tight as you can, but you find enjoyment in the scare.  And theme parks know this, we all this twisted attraction towards testing ourselves so every year they build a rollercoaster bigger and scarier than the last one.  And we line up for it.  We wait the long wait for those few minutes of screaming and thrill.

I wonder if my opponent is feeling this scared thrill, like me.

Actually, not everyone enjoys the cortisol rush of roller coasters/horror movies/punches to the head. And it's certainly not great for your body.
