As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

I Told Them... Thursday, September 27

I think one of the most powerful and memorable moments I've experienced here in the Philippines happened tonight.  In front of a room full of people, many of which started off tonight as strangers, I gave my story about how I became empowered, my journey and my struggles.  It was pretty empowering to stand up in front of this crowd, make myself vulnerable and tell them things that I haven't even told my family.  They responded with nothing but support, encouragement and gratitude towards me for sharing it.

Tonight's event was powerful and I think it made me feel every emotion under the sun.

It was a social event to raise awareness about human trafficking but also empowerment and other struggles we within the community face.  There was plenty of moments that pulled on the heart strings of those in the crowd and lots of people got teary-eyed, me included.

I met some amazing people as well as learned new things about people I already knew and it was interesting to note that we all go through struggles, no one is an exception, so you're really not alone.  There is always someone that can relate. And that's the thing, so many people can relate.  It was interesting to hear the feedback from my speech, how other women shared with me similar stories or said they wanted to go beyond this event and get involved and help with Empowered.

Tonight's event, best event e-v-e-r by The Refined, hands down, even if it did make me cry.
