As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Love for the Lil' Sistas... Thursday, May 23

On Tuesday two of the Lil' Sistas that I coach at the Center of Hope became moms.  Two new little humans entered this world, born to a preteen and a teen mom, both of which are human trafficking survivors.  Two new lives... wow.  I thought it was big, something my mind thought was kind of crazy, but today it became huge to me.  Today I was sent pictures of the two newborns and just like it's almost as if my brain exploded.  It became so incredibly real, so huge.

Two new people are here, sharing the country I now call home.

The lives of those involved -- the two young moms, those working at the Center of Hope, those running the Voice of the Free, and all the Lil' Sistas living at the Center of Hope -- their lives are instantly changed.  The introduction of these two little newborn girls has instantly had a rippling effect in the lives surrounding theirs.

That's so wild.

Sitting there on my couch, looking at the two pictures of the newborns, I just felt speechless.

One of the beautiful newborns was born to a 12 year old mentally challenged girl.  The baby looks healthy though, very healthy actually, and I felt so much relief at the sight of her but so incredibly fascinated and lost for words at the fact that this little baby came out of such a small little girl.

I don't know if the two newborns will be staying at the Center of Hope but I know this changes everything for them there.  Tonight I launched a request, asking for donations for these two newborns.  Taking on one newborn is already a big thing but just last month the Center of Hope received another girl and she happened to be pregnant.  And just like that, they instantly had to prepare for not only another girl but also another newborn.  Looking back, I should have planned a surprise baby shower for them.  I knew they'd be having one newborn and I think a baby shower would have really helped to up the morale of them all.  But honestly, it's almost as if it didn't even seem real to me, the situation with one of them being pregnant that is.  I mean, I saw her each month getting bigger and bigger but it just didn't seem real.  She's just a child.  Now she's a mom though, that's the thing.

The plan is to get as many donations as I can get and then deliver them when I go on May 31st.

I've been asked to be a part of a documentary being featured there so on May 31st I'll be doing some filming with them, hosting a short Lil' Pow Boxing Class with them and doing a writing activity with those in my Snail Mail Program.
