As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Touch of Love... Saturday, October 12

Attended a special event today for the Voice of the Free.  It was an art exhibit that showcased various local artists' work and then some of the work of the little girls I coach at the Center of Hope -- the Lil' Sistas.  I had sat behind them when I arrived, not realizing it, so when one of them turned around to glance at me I was all smiles and giggles.  Turns out there weren't just 2 of them but 2 rows of them.  Two rows of Lil' Sistas all glammed up with makeup on, earrings and dressings, hair all nicely combed, and sitting so pretty.

The CEO and Founder of the Voice of the Free was there, Cecilia.  I know her well.  After the opening ceremony in the main room, she and I walked downstairs together and I teased her about being there but also being retired.  "Aren't you suppose to be somewhere with your feet up, wind in your hair, and nothing on your to-do list?" I asked her.  She giggled and told me that of course she couldn't miss today.

Cecilia has since retired from doing the every day, daily operations of the Voice of the Free but she still attends the special events, like today.  It was nice to see her.  The girls absolutely love her and she's like a mom to them all.  I don't know where or what these girls would do without her.  Sheryl has since taken on the role and responsibilities that Cecilia once did as CEO and Founder, and so far she seems to be do quite well.  It's a big role to fill though but I know she loves the girls and they love her, so it's one that has become almost like second nature to her.

Seeing the girls was great today.  I didn't anticipate seeing so many though so that was a bonus.
