As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

The good, the bad, and the down right, flat out, puffy, and ugly transition that my face went through.

Ten minutes after my fight, I had iced my face immediately and had somewhat tamed my left eyebrow that ten minutes earlier had blown up in size.

Twenty minutes after my fight and minus ice, my face started to swell up again. I had been head-butted in the left eyebrow and forehead, both spots that would prove to be somewhat sensitive for the next couple of days.

A couple of hours after my fight and once I arrived back in Cheonan, it was obvious that although my cold wet towel did provide some comfort for my face it didn't prove too effective in preventing the swelling of the rest of my face....

or the discolouring of my eye.
By Sunday night (the next night after my fight), the swelling of my eye had gone down considerably but the discolouring of my eye left me looking like a child who had played with their mother's make-up for the first time.

Today... 5:25am, Thursday, December 23rd. Although I've been getting various mixed reactions by people in public at the sight of my eye, I've been refusing to cover it in make-up and have been wearing it proudly as a badge of honour for the last couple of days. It took me awhile to get to this point but now I proudly wear my hair tied back for all to see the colours of the rainbow I'm sporting on my eye because no matter what anyone says, I did something so many people can only stand on the sidelines and critique and it took me a trip to Hell and back to get this shiner.
