My husband is off illegally climbing a mountain, am I worried?! No, he's as stubborn and as strong as a Korean man gets. Him being nicknamed the Korean Hulk is oh so appropriate. My worry with him though is his lack of preparation. He's one of those guys that jumps into something with both feet and thinks everything will turn out. I suspect he headed up the mountain today with no food because he left with only the clothes on his back and his wallet is still on the counter.
My boxercise classes have been temporarily put on hold until we open our new club so this weekend is anticipated to be a very low-key, mellow weekend. My plans are to use this weekend to catch up on the Flat Stanley project and finish up the next issue of The Fab Gal's Gab (our Flipside Fitness magazine).
Next week I head off to Seoul where I'll be staying for the next four weeks, working an English camp. I'm actually in charge of teaching floor hockey. How original, a Canadian teaching what's been labelled Canada's sport, hockey. I feel like such a stereotype... hahaha. It should be fun but I don't care to be away from home for so long. I have one weekend off, right smack dab in the middle of the four weeks, and I plan on using this weekend to load up on more groceries and do laundry. My accommodations consist of a university dorm room which most likely means no fridge and a lack of privacy. The university where I'll be staying serves vegetarian-only meals, something that doesn't impress me. I'm trying to be optimistic about it though, hoping that they compensate with excessive amounts of veggies. When I went for the orientation, they took us out to a vegetarian buffet where I was served meat-flavoured tofu. That was interesting, more interesting than it was tasty, that's for sure!!! I really don't understand people eating something that tastes like the very thing they are against eating.
Maintaining my healthy clean eating is going to be rough, given that I won't be able to eat meat for the next month and I have no fridge or mini-kitchen to prepare any meals or store my food. I banking on the notion that I'm going to have to go raw and I'll be limited to taking only things that won't die quickly or need refrigerating so I'm packing the following:
eggs, protein powder, spinach, green peppers, oranges, bananas, oatmeal, and a blender
Yes, I do eat raw eggs. I try not to make a habit of it but tough times call for tough calls. Looks like I'm going to be eating a lot of raw eggs.
I'm more interested in how I'll handle this month away than the actual work I'm going there to do. I've already devised a workout schedule for myself and I plan on really using this month away to try a new training regime and hardcore clean eating. It'll be definitely challenging but I like the fact that it's happening right at the start of the new year. It'll be a super start to 2013, a tough start but a very focused one.
