Yesterday I definitely didn't pace myself and I paid the price for it today, most definitely. I came here yesterday, guns a blazing, trying to stay positive and optimistic about their no meat, no coffee rule, so I carried on, doing things I usually do and at the level I usually do them. Exercise and staying active is very much a top priority of me as it is a very big part of my daily routine. I'm used to running around all day but still having plenty of energy leftover for a full workout so I didn't think of it yesterday, I just did it. Late last night I headed out for a good one hour run and then I returned to the dorm to do a core circuit. I woke up today feeling great and even during floor hockey I picked up a stick and joined one of the teams playing. As for floor hockey, the team I played with today were great. At first they were hesitant as to whether or not it'd be fun but by a couple of minutes into the game, they all were having fun. I had them make team names, pick a captain and then a did a little drill practice session with them before it was game on.
I've got one problem... one BIG problem.
The problem is that though I'm just as active here as I usually am back in Cheonan, I am definitely not eating up to par with my usual high protein, high veggie six meals a day. I eat my three main meals with the students , I've managed to get in a mid afternoon meal and I have a meal in the later evening, but what's missing is my high protein and high veggie intake.
Alternative sources for protein for vegetarians include quinoa, nuts, seeds, some butters (like peanut butter), eggs, tofu, soy products, beans, legumes, and lentils. The on going theme of the meals served here however have been ultra low protein, with only plain tofu being offered, or deep fried tofu, and peanuts covered in some kind of sticky sauce. They had soybean milk boxes this morning so I made sure to take a couple of those, and breakfast was the only time I saw eggs served so I made sure to stock up on them... I made my students stock up on them too!!!
My calories killed vrs calories consumed definitely didn't measure up so shortly after returning from dinner, around 6pm, I crashed and burned. Woke up at 11:20pm. Caught up on my homepage and Facebook, showered and then crashed again at midnight.
I'm contemplating an escape... I need to get protein, I need veggies!!!
My days end at 6pm but this Saturday I don't work until 1:30pm so I'm debating whether or not I should high tail it out of here and venture home. I'd be a sweet surprise to see Snickers and my 4-legged buddies but it'd also give me a chance to stock up on REAL food. Hmm..... yes or no?!
