Apparently I have been appointed as manager for a newly formed baseball team. It consists of 9 Korean men and though they don’t quite yet have a name, they have been calling themselves La Cubo Spaghetti. I was told of my role today at 7:40 in the morning when I rolled over to see Snickers on the phone. I hadn’t yet digested what Snickers had told me but then he jumped up and insisted I get ready. “We have a meeting at 8am”.
We?!
A meeting… meeting for what?!
I really had no clue what he was talking
about though I vividly remember him mentioning something in passing the other
day about wanting to play baseball. As
the story has it, all the male workers at the restaurant Snickers co-manages
created a baseball game and today’s so-called meeting was to pick out equipment
at a local baseball shop.
Ended up spending a good part of the
morning picking out baseball equipment after I opened my mouth and started
giving pointers. I have never played
baseball beyond hitting the ball around with my brothers at the local baseball
diamond but I used to watch The Blue Jays (Toronto’s professional team)
religiously and I always watched the local peewee league. Snickers and his newly appointed teammate ate
up my tips and were loving it. They say
they’re going to give me an official manager jersey but that’s ok… hahaha.
The rest of my day was spent preparing
things for this weekend’s Seoraksan Get Fierce, Get Fearless, Get-Away event that
my company Flipside Fitness is hosting.
I also spent a huge chunk of my day working on a new project I’m hoping
to launch tomorrow – a Flipside Fitness newsletter. I took the day off of boxing today on account
that I’m definitely one of those people who hates to start something without
finishing it, so that’s exactly what I did today. I started it and finished it all in one
sitting.
Then it was off to Dongdaemun. We arrived shortly before midnight and with two
specific missions on our minds, we got down to business and then left. By the time we arrived back in Cheonan it was creeping up to 4am.
Mission One: Uniforms for La Cubo Restaurant – the baseball
team’s practice uniform and a work uniform
Mission Two: Rain coats for the Seoraksan Get Fierce, Get
Fearless, Get-Away (Flipside Fitness event)
