As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

I Beat Myself... Thursday, April 11

“I BEAT MYSELF!!!” I yelled as I tossed off my shoes and motioned for Snickers to high five me.

High fives are so old skool, fair enough, but I was on such a crazy natural high from my run. My adrenaline was pumping, my endorphins were flowing, and I knew as high as I was feeling my feet would be hurting soon and my legs would be going into jelly mode.

I had gone out tonight for a run – ROBO Time – with Flipside Fitness. Only one of the girls showed up but she’s definitely a decent running partner for me. We boot around the path over by Dankook and our chatting definitely distracts us from counting how many laps we’ve done. When she headed off to go home I decided to go another lap around Dankook and then I too headed home.

When I did that last lap around Dankook it clicked in my head -- my run tonight would be the exact length of a half marathon – so I treated it like an actual race and kicked it up a notch with my pacing. I booted it back home at full speed.

Results:
It took me 1:47:54 to run 21km.

Awesome Conclusions:
Was successful in keeping my pacing in my goal time of 5-5:14min/km.
Beat my previous half marathon race time by 2 minutes and 16 seconds.

I still have to shave at least 24 seconds of my timing though, if I want to beat Black Skinny because that’s exactly how much his previous half marathon beat my previous race time by.

24 seconds… dang Skippy. I’m sure he’d have a field day on this if he knew.

I’ve got exactly 16 more days to work on these 24 seconds but my ultimate goal would be to knock off an additional 2 minutes and 54 seconds (3mins) from tonight’s run and reach the finish line at 1:45.
