As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

A Breath of Fresh Air... Sunday, July 7

We stepped out of Cheonan last night, away from what consumes our everyday -- our boxing club, four-legged beauties, friends and members, sponsors... responsibilities.  It was only a small step away, a temporary one but it was a two hour step that was definitely needed, wanted and enjoyed.

Today we had to step back -- back to our everyday.

We had fallen asleep last night around 3am but had woken up at 6am, ready to face the day and play in the water.  Unfortunately the sun didn't join us to play so my anticipation of breaking out my bikini and catching some rays on the beach was a definite no-go.  Instead, we stuck to playing with the small crabs on the beach and piggy-backing up and down the beach.

When we returned to Cheonan it was about 11am, just in time for UFC!!!  Caught Anderson getting knocked out and then it was KO for us too but on the bed.  The lack of sleep had quickly caught up with us but no sooner did we fall asleep we had to get ready and race off to the boxing club for work.

It was a rough day at work, energy wise that is but with it being a short day of work we knew we could make it through.  I got a second wind when one of my former boxercise gals -- Lovely L -- showed up today for training.  It's been about a year since she's returned to the States but she just recently returned for a visit and to help a friend out in Seoul with his theater.  She ended up staying the whole work day at Hulk's and then we headed out for dinner together.  It surely was nice to see her again but in a way it was a bit sad because a lot has happened in our year a part.  She's now in grad school and has her first boyfriend and I have my own boxing club.  It would have been awesome to have experienced these major life events together as well as had her around when other things took place, particularly in my life -- the fall-out of a close friend of ours, the lashing-out of my former coach and the brainstorming of my club.  I must admit, there are various key ladies whom I've trained but who have since left Korea that I really would have love, love, LOVED to have had here to help me brainstorm and to be a part of it all -- Nicole, Lia, Chelsey, Courtney, and Ne Li to name a few.  It would have been awesome to have Caitlin here too, I could have finally been the sponsor for her running that I always told her she deserved to have.  She did boxercise with me but she was quite the impressive pro star runner and I would have loved to have her running at the races with our boxing club on her back!!!

Ohhhhh... awesome friends that have come and gone are hard to forget and hard to say goodbye to but tonight I got to celebrate the return of one of my goodies and introduce her to some new friends.
