As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Two Men + Boxing = My Life in Korea

These two men and this one sport were and are the most influential components of my life here in Korea -- boxing, Junior Mint and Snickers.
Boxing definitely gave me a sense of identity here in Korea as well as a second family and ultimately my husband.  It also lead me to creating Flipside Fitness, a females-only fitness group -- a purpose for me here in Korea.  And it was Junior Mint allowed me to use UP Boxing Club to host my boxercise classes.
Snickers was the one who really took my idea of Flipside Fitness to the next level, suggesting we go big and open up our own boxing club.  Originally, we wanted our boxing club to be the brother club to UP, hence the name Knuckle UP Boxing Club, but that idea was thrown out the window when we confronted Junior Mint about our plans.
My mother's death was also one of the biggest things to effect me here in Korea.  Flipside Fitness stemmed from a conversation I had with her in the hospital and no sooner had she passed but then I launched Flipside.  And I account my determination, self drive and stubbornness to sticking to what I believe in and want to both her and my father who got everything they've ever wanted from nothing.
