It's White Day, the equivalent to Valentine's Day but designated specifically for us gals.
My White Day started off really good, despite not exactly having my man to celebrate it with. You see, Snickers left Cheonan yesterday with some of our friends -- ocean bound for a few days of fishing out on the boat, so it was just our four-legged friends and I waking up to White Day. I woke up to a phone call from my promoter; he wanted to discuss the Japan fight.
By noon it was a very, very happy White Day.
I was three for three -- down 3kgs in three days.
We had reached an agreement on the conditions for the Japan fight -- fight purse (money), plane ticket, etc. -- so I agreed to take it. Originally Snickers wasn't going to come with me to Japan because one of our amateur boxers had a fight scheduled the same day but the fight got postponed. Now he's able to go so he's going. It'll be our first fight together -- first fight with him as my coach. So I had the fight, the agreed upon conditions, the mad drop in weight, the new coach in my corner, and I had even agreed to sign on with a new manager.
White Day was looking very much like a happy White Day.
I decided to take Pyen Chi with me to work today. After all it was White Day and she is by far my favourite girl friend and definitely an awesome partner in crime at the club. I arrived at Hulk's a bit early and headed into the office to make my little White Day lollipop cards that I was going to hand out to today's Hulkies and visitors. No sooner had I arrived though, I was greeted by a cute young Korean couple who wanted to check out the club. Next thing I knew it, almost forty minutes had passed and I was still chit chatting with them -- definitely a fun start to the work day.
I decided to hand out my White Day lollipop cards to everyone and anyone who walked through the Hulk club doors, guys and girls. In Korea, Valentine's Day is a day girls give guys chocolates and White Day is when guys give girls candy, but because I gave chocolates to both guys and girls on Valentine's Day I figured it was only fair I did the same on White Day. It was cute to stash my White Day lollipops in members' lockers and see their reactions when they discovered them, very cute.
My overly happy White Day took a bit of a nose dive in the early evening when I got word from my promoter that the original fighter, the Mexican boxer, had finally sent in her signed contract for the fight. I was so disappointed and frustrated but in all fairness my promoter had warned me that this may happen. Never really expected it to happen though. He ended the conversation by telling me to not give my hopes up, I may very well end up taking this fight, it could still happen. So now I'm on standby. I'll continue to cut weight and train hard because of the chance they may ask me to sign for it. I just really need a fight.
I ended up training late tonight but my training was interrupted by a certain little four-legged lady coming to our Hulk's doors -- Belfort. Tonight marked the first time I have ever seen her past 7pm. We had assumed she was someone's pet but a pet that was left outside during the day and then brought in at night. I always see her during the day and never at night. Turns out my assumptions were wrong though because around 11:30pm she came to Hulk's. Pyen Chi went a bit crazy at the sight of her but Belfort didn't seem too concerned about Pyen Chi's barking. I ended up sitting outside with Belfort and opening the door a bit so that Pyen Chi could poke her nose outside to smell her. The two touched noses and then Belfort started to lick Pyen Chi's nose; it was so adorable. I ended up having to stick around much later than anticipated because I was nervous that Belfort would follow me home. When she was finally out of sight and had run off somewhere, then Pyen Chi and I slipped out of Hulk's and booted it home.
Upon reaching my apartment, I ran into a friend of mine and we got talking about Hulk's and my fight stats. I voiced my concern about needing a fight and needing to clean my record up. "My record isn't good, it's crap" I admitted, "but people don't know the politics or situation behind the numbers" I told him and he agreed. It's really frustrating because people really don't know. In my situation, it was never about mix-matched fights but instead it was about other politics that cheated me on certain fights, three fights to be specific. KBC tries hard to protect it's home fighters and I have never been one to be treated as a home fighter, consequently I have had my fair share of hard times dealing with KBC. I may fight on behalf of Korea but I also feel I'm fighting the very country I'm trying to represent and that's rough. That's rough and that's wrong. My choices are either to continue, continue and potentially let KBC kill my stats even more, or stop fighting and ultimately let KBC have the last laugh, the upper hand -- admit defeat.
I need this fight in Japan so now I'm holding my breath that I get it. Korea may be brutal for mix-matching it's fights and overdosing home advantage upon it's home fighters but Japan is brutal for ending fights early so to protect it's home fighters. But this particular fight in Japan, it's close to Tokyo and it's being held on an American army base. I am not American but you can be sure I'd have more fans cheering for me than the Japanese fighter. This would work in my favor with regards to fair judging and my promoter strongly agrees too. I've decided to keep training and cutting weight as if I have this fight in three weeks, until it's a for sure no. I just want to fight.
