As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Bad and Good Luck are for the Pesstimists and Undeserving... Friday, June 13

Despite the still very numb and still very blue finger I'm sporting and the large bump on my head (scored last night when I pretty much took my TV out with my head), I'm injured but happy.

Today is Friday and it's Friday the thirteenth none the less.

Enter all rights to be suspicious of the day and desires to label it a superstitious, unlucky day right here because that's exactly where such negative thoughts will have to stay.  I say that because today was a great day and it was a great day for many great reasons.  I don't believe in luck at all actually but if today was supposed to be a day of bad luck then I never want good luck.  Today was awesome and it started with NO Pesky Parkers, quite possibly a first-ever situation here at Hulk's!!!

I was 3 for 3 today with my Hulkie weigh-ins so not only was I super happy and proud of their success but such fabulous results kicked me into ultra-hyper mood.  Ended up making up a couple of batches of some clean eating snackies for many to enjoy.

I was so hyper today and me being hyper means I tend to get super silly, hence the jock strap I thought funny to put on and run around the club in.

As for why the sudden "play time" with the jock strap, well it got delivered today along with our amateur fight uniforms.  I opened the box and there it laid, looking up at me.  Later in the day one of my mini-Hulkies saw it and mistook it for a face mask.  I seriously almost peed my pants when I turned and saw her with it.  Taking upon myself to explain to her what a jock strap was, definitely a defining moment of the day.  I thought she'd be totally grossed out by the fact that she had just put it on her face but oddly enough she wasn't.  Instead, she asked if both girls and boys had to wear it.  "No", I told her.  "Us girls don't have what boys have, we have different parts that need different protection."  And on that note, I showed her a pair of turtle shells.  This little mini-Hulkie may still be in the single digit age category but she's fully educated now about the protective wear worn in boxing... hahaha.  Too funny and too cute.

Tomorrow Hulk's Boxing will be officially making it's mark in the amateur boxing division with Kato, the golden boy of our amateur boxing.  First impressions are lasting impressions so we're all as nervous as we are excited about it but I am confident in Kato's skills.  "Hard time now, easy time later" is what I always tell him.  He's only been boxing a year, he started here at Hulk's, but we've been training him really hard from the get go.  His sparring partner has always been Snickers, Korea's former Super Light Champion, and trust me when I say Snickers does not go easy on him.  The other day Snickers gave him a liver shot that sent him crashing to the ring floor, rithing and yelling in pure pain.  "Your fight tomorrow can't possibly be as hard as your sparring with Coach, so just enjoy tomorrow.  You've got it", I told him today and I meant every word I said.

All my mini-Hulkies came out to training today and so I anticipated them too because while Fridays are Free Train for all other Hulkies, Friday is Fun Day for my mini-Hulkies.  We play numerous games like soccer, volleyball and tag, but we also end up making new games like Shark Attack and our Strong Hulk Competitions.  Tonight I had an extra large group of mini-Hulkies to play with when not only did one of our Hulkies bring his three children but then one of my sisters-in-law showed up with two of her boys.  Come 9:30pm, my Polish tush had been royally kicked by a gang of mini-Hulkies but I still had 2.5 hours of work and my own boxing training to get through.
