Snickers won his fight. It was nerve-racking waiting for his fight and it was nerve-racking watching his fight. None the less, he won.
We had headed out to the fight location, Soon Chun, early in the morning, 7am. And arrived with no one knowing who the heck we were... Until they did that is. Snickers was recognized by a boxing fan and I ended up running into a friend from my old club, UP, who then introduced us to others. It was Snickers' first round TKO, 3 minute fight victory that got people really talking about him though. Even the main ref and two of the judges asked to speak to him about his fighting skills.
We hadn't told many people about the fight because we didn't even know it was a for sure until last night plus, it being his first MMA fight, he didn't want it to be hyped up. What was really great though was the flock of friends who called us up in the early evening, after they had assumed the fight was over, and those who text messaged us during the day. We really do have a great group of friends. My boxing champ buddy and his wife in Busan kept on messaging me and insisted I phone them after the fight.
After the fight, we ended up inviting many of our close friends out for a special celebration dinner -- it was our treat. It felt so nice to be surrounded by such good friends that have been with us through think and thin, the times when we were down and out of money. And even though we feel like we're finally living the dream so many admired us for wanting but never assumed we'd ever get it, it was these people whom we called out tonight, whom we wanted to spend our money on, that have always supported us. We took them all to this gorgeous restuarant where the side dishes are plentiful and the meat is served super thick. We ate, we laughed, we jokes, and we talked about Snickers' fight and his past fights.
It had been a good day, a great day. It had started off with the one man that supports us unconditionally both in our business and personal life -- WOW. Then we spent our entire day in a MMA packed to the max with highly dedicated, skilled athetles and their supporters. And then we ended the day with at the head of a table at a beautiful restuarant, with its chairs all full of beautiful friends in our life. This are the days of my life and they're pretty awesome... minus the excessive pee breaks I had to make while I nervously waited for Snickers' fight that is... hahaha.
