As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Another Spooky Night... Monday, October 27

More spookiness tonight to write about here.

Snickers must think I'm joking when I told him the other day not to leave me home alone because he headed out tonight after work and planned to stay at a friend's house, again.  Yes, I'm a big girl and yes I'm not a child but what's been going on here at Hulk's has been freaking me out.  I used to think it was a part of the building's character and charm but now I'm seriously questioning it.

I was in bed messaging back and forth to my cousin in Canada on Facebook when I had to stop our conversation to check out a strange sound.  Nothing but the dogs growling and me being annoyed by the interruption resulted but then something really strange happened.  I heard another noise, a noise I could definitely distinguish.  It was the sound of some of the water cups falling on the floor.  There are usually 5-6 stacks of water cups piled up on top of the water tower for Hulkies to use during training.  And when I went to go check out just how many cups had fallen, only one of the stacks were scattered all over the floor.  The stacks are a couple of inches away from the edge of the tower top but it was very strange only one stack had fallen, especially because they've never fallen before unless someone has accidentally hit them over.

Honestly, I was more frustrated than scared over the mysterious fallen cups because I was in a serious conversation with my cousin and I didn't know how long I could chat with her considering it was the middle of the day for her.  But it got me thinking, after our conversation that is.  A month or so ago it was simply the dogs barking and refusing to go by the treadmill area of the club.  There was that one time where Pacquiao totally got spooked, ran to the bathroom, hid beside the sink, and then wouldn't come out without me scooping him up in my arms -- that was so very strange.  These days there has been a lot more strange and stranger things happen -- unexplanable footsteps, the shadow on the bedroom door, and now the knocked over cups.  I asked the shop keeper across the street about the person who knocked on our front doors at 11pm last night and both she and the neighbouring shop owners said no one did.  I don't know if they both didn't notice anyone or if there's more to the story, but at this point it kind of wouldn't surprise me if it was yet another strange thing happening here at Hulk's.
I looked up online, signs that a ghost is in your presence and these seemed to be the reoccurring points made.  I highlighted those in yellow that apply to what's been happening here at Hulk's.

1. You get a sudden “feeling” you aren’t alone.
2. A sudden drop in temperature with no logical explanation.
3. A cold spot in a room that isn’t anywhere near a window, door or other opening and cannot be explained away because a fan is nearby or whatever.
4. The little hairs on the back of your neck seem to stand on end.
5. Goosebumps break out on your arms for no apparent reason.
6. Light bulbs blow often.
7. Electrical stuff goes haywire.
8. Your dog starts following something around the room with its eyes. [my dogs stare and growl]
9. Your cat scatters for cover, hunches its back, hisses at nothing, growls low in its throat.
10. You hear a knock or several.
11. You think you hear someone call your name.
12. A sudden smell assaults your nose…good or bad.

According to the Internet, because you know just how true and reliable it is [enter sarcastic font here], my haunted building hasn't really been too active.  I argue that it has though; we've been having lots of unexplanable activity here.  Now if my so-called ghost is a person, now that could be totally believable too and at this point I don't know what I honestly prefer -- a person or a ghost.  A person I could search out, catch and kick out but what the heck do you do with a ghost?!  Exactly.

In other news, after a long and interrupted Facebook messenger conversation with one of my much missed, much loved cousins, I found out she was actually adopted.  I don't know if my parents ever told me that but regardless I just thought that was so awesome and it was such a great way to end the evening.  I'm all about pro-adoption and I've have many friends who have been adopted but I think it's super duper cool that someone in my own family is adopted.  I ended up calling Snickers and telling him I couldn't sleep alone.  I wasn't so much spooked about tonight's cup situation but I wanted to tell him about my cousin whom he's met.  Snickers showed up a little while later and, him being all nervous that I was alone and scared, he showed up with an ice cream cone to cheer me up.  I love, love, LOVE ice cream cones.  They're like a chunk of Heaven for my mouth.
