As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

A Dying Business Gives us More Life... Sunday, December 21

It was a bitter sweet gift from Santa that Hulk's received today.  I say from Santa but we're all grown-ups here reading this homepage, or so I believe, and so you know it wasn't from him and, in this case, the him was a her.  A local business owner and friend of ours just had one of their businesses close and we were allowed to cash in on their going-out-of-business action.  Part of them closing their doors for good meant having to deal with all the equipment and whatnot that's in their building, and that's were we "helped" out.  We helped by telling them we'd take whatever they'd let us take and for whatever price they wanted.  They proposed an offer to good for us to ignore, they said we could take whatever we could clean up, pack up and take back to Cheonan.

Two phone calls later, one to a Hulkie and another to a friend, and twenty minutes later not only did we have the man power to help us out but we also scored a free truck... sweet!!!

Arrived back in Cheonan with 80 chairs, 9 tables, 3 fire extinguishers, 2 garbage cans, 2 shelf units, 1 massive white board, 1 wooden cabinet... and the need for me to say "and a partridge in a pear tree" here.

I hadn't gone with the guys, instead I stayed back at the club with the pups.  I had work to do, a special project.  These 80 chairs, 9 tables and white board that the guys went there for today are very much a big part of my special project.

I'm working on making a fundraiser for Hulk's on Indiegogo -- a social crowfunding website.

I won't go into the details of it but it's basically to help us raise money for a new ring.  Our current ring floor went to mush.  A ring is a must for any boxing club, that's a given, but how do you come up with the needed lump amount of cash needed to fund a big project?!  Exactly.  Anyways, we need to replace the ring and we're looking to up it to a tournament style ring because we've always wanted to host inter city tournaments at our club.  The chairs we got today would be for those attending our tournaments.  The tables, those are for our ringside judges and sponsors.  And as for the white board, that's where we'd post the tournament bout schedules and results.

I was planning to launch my fundraiser this Monday but with this week being Christmas, I think I'll hold off.  Christmas tends to be harsh on everyone's wallet so I think I'll plan for a new year launching.  Perhaps a Valentine's Day due date would be appropriate?  Undecided but I still have a lot to do to finish this up so I've got to get back to working on it now.  Will let you know more about it later because we'll need all the help we can get.
