As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Champion in the Making... Thursday, December 4

You want to know what real stress is, beyond that of the MIL pushing the whole baby issue that is, stress is waking up to the mailman knocking on your door, asking you to sign for not one but three pieces of mail.  Having to sign for a piece of mail is never ever a good sign because it almost always means an overdue hefty bill or some kind of sensitive notice.  Therefore, and needless to say, having to sign for three is pretty bad.  Today's three signed pieces of mail included a letter from LeeChard Hair (owners of our building's floor) for our taxes, a hefty electricity bill, and a final report from the insurance company we've decided to part with and go with another.  What a relief, only one of three were harsh on the eyes -- the electricity bill.  I felt as if I had dodged yet another bullet being shot at me as a young entrepreneur!!!

I had woken up late today, totally sleeping in past my coffee date time with my friend and totally missing out on the Uniglo sale on their much-needed heat tech clothing that I am convinced may in fact be the only thing from keeping my body from freezing up.  I woke up at 12:30pm, way later than anticipated.  Snickers tried to cheer me up by saying he wanted to sit in bed with me and drink coffee -- usually it's just me sitting in bed enjoying my breakfast and coffee while he sleeps -- so I made him coffee and got mine ready too.  And what would have, should have and could have been a sweet way to start the day turned sour when Pacquiao, in all his excitement, accidently stepped into Snickers' coffee!  So much for couple coffee time.  Downed my coffee and then got straight to work, cleaning the club for opening.

Snickers has resumed training and so he trained today right at the start of our business hours.  He's planning to train everyday now as he's on a quest to get back into the ring.  He wants to do both boxing and MMA fighting but honestly speaking the boxing is much easier for him to get back into.  He's got the good boxing record, the former champion belt and his defence fights, and he's got his image already created and known within the boxing community and beyond.  I envy him in that he has such raw natural talent and anyone who has seen him train or stepped into the ring to spar with him knows just how true this statement is.  I don't have his raw talent but I have determination and consistency with my training.  Anyways, his new goal is to score Korean championship status again but in two weight classes.  Next year he will be champion.

YB:  When I become champion again what will you give me?
ME:  Hmm...a kiss.  I don't give anyone else my kisses.
YB:  [frowning face]... you give Pacquiao, Pyen and Bal kisses.
ME:  Ya,... but not with tongue.

With Snickers' new found focus and eagerness on getting back into the ring, he's agreed to do some things differently.  "You can't spell challenge without change" I told him, "but then again you can't even spell the English word challenge... hahaha".  Snickers trained today at 2pm and when he finished he asked me to make him a protein shake.  I was more than happy to do so because often he'll wait until much later after his training to eat and that's a no-no in my books.  This is the second day in a row he's allowed me to make him a post training shake and, like the smart cookie that I am, I snuck in some veggies into his shake without him knowing and added some blueberries so he wouldn't guess by the colouring.  He drank a cup of spinach and had absolutely no idea whatsoever... sweet.  Got to keep him fueled with all the good stuff!
