As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

From Sweats to Sweets... Sunday, January 18

Two laps to Dankook lake and back, sounds easy but mentally it was a whole other thing.  When we looped around at the Cheonan subway station there was the pull and strain of knowing we had to do it all over again, another lap, if we wanted to get in our mileage.  With Snickers out of town we had resorted to running our usual weekday morning route because we couldn't so easy get out to Asan but doubling up our usual weekday route for our weekly long run...ya, not doing that again.

Getting down our goal of a 18km run was then followed by lunch out at Wow's restaurant.  That's kind of our weekly long-run tradition -- follow the long run with a big hearty, healthy meal out. And it's always the same -- raw beef bibimbap.  I missed not being able to pick up some cooked eggs and a black coffee for the ride to the restaurant though.

For the rest of the day it was just me and the pups at Hulk's.  We played, we ate, we napped, and then we played some more.

Snickers was suppose to come back to Cheonan around 4pm but that turned into 7pm.  So when he did finally arrive, I was waiting and ready to hit the streets of downtown for our anticipated weekly date.  Last week we went to the movies with the anticipation of watching "The American Sniper" but the CGV theatre by Hulk's wasn't playing it so we watched "Unbroken".  Tonight we finally got the chance to watch it.

Quick commercial break here... "Unbroken" was wicked!!! Both it and "The American Sniper" were based on real life stories, which I love, and both had dramatic endings, which I also love, but they were polar opposite with how they left you...which I didn't like.  I definitely recommend "Unbroken"!!!  I am not much of an action-flick fan but I liked how they played on the leading character's running training with the storyline and how he repetitively found strength in certain affirmations told to him, that totally got my attention because I'm all about affirmations.  And as for the ending, well I don't want to spoil it for you but it was very cool.  The ending was what made the whole movie really, really awesome and memorable.  As for "The American", the ending rather killed it for me and I left the theatre feeling both sad and angry.
