After a long day out in Buyeo with Granny Kim and all the other in-law Kims, it was back to Cheonan for Snickers and I. In the morning I only had but 3 hours sleep before having to wake up and deal with the whole packed house full of Kims but it had been a good day. Perhaps it was the best holiday ever spent with the Kim in-laws and I attest that to the fact that both my two little nieces are now walking and talking little people now -- that's as supposed to being the crawling and crying little monsters they were in past years. Last year the one was still in monster-mode and her discovery of her vocals mixed with her discovery of balance on two legs meant no one slept and no one could so much as here their own thoughts in their own head. This year she's grown up and it was pretty cool to see just how much she has developed in a year. I give her 5 stars in the cuteness ranking.
Returning back in Cheonan was nice. I was greeted by my 3 four-legged babies who were all too eager to jump up on me and try to steal my kisses -- 4 legged babies are so way cooler than 2 legged ones, by far. Spent some time chasing them around the club and then it was nap time for them.
We had spent a good chunk of the day out in Buyeo but once we got back to Cheonan and played with the pups, it was back to work-mode for us. Snickers had told me in the morning he wanted to talk to me seriously about something and so tonight we sat down and had this much anticipated talk. The talk was about the next phase of Hulk's.
When we first collaborated our thoughts about Hulk's, back some 2 years ago when Hulk's was just a building-less idea scribbled down about on some pieces of paper, we mapped out a 10 year plan. The plan had 3 phases to it and we anticipated the first phase to be the hardest because it'd be thr actual opening of the club. So phase 1 was the inital stage -- picking a location/building and setting up of the club. We argued a lot about phase 2 because in Snickers' phase 2 it meant branching Hulk's out and making additional locations like Hulk Smash, a crossfit-only gym. We had interested parties willing to sponsor such additional locations but we wanted to first make the boxing club, let it run for a few years, and then consider branching out to exercise-specific facilities. I, on the other hand, my Phase 2 revolved around saving up money for a house and having full time staff at Hulk's. So while Phase 2 was never fully agreed upon, we both agreed that hiring full time staff, either as Phase 2 or Phase 3, was needed and that Snickers and I would simply manage the place. Currently Snickers does padwork with all the members, on his own, and that's brutal on his body not to mention damaging and exhausting for him. It leaves his body beaten up well before he even gets the chance to train that day. The plan thus is to make padwork someone else's responsibility and alleviate Snickers from that duty. Moreover, we'd get a certified personal trainer to take on PT clients and run our crossfit classes at set times. We don't have a set time schedule for our crossfit classes because you never know if a visitor or new member is going to come in and thus require my attention.
Today's talk about Hulk's was in regards to something Snickers just so happen to stumble upon. It was an amazing discovery that may just very well put our three phase 10 year plan into motion and make it all happen this year.
This time next year I could very well be typing this to you from an even bigger Hulk's, one that is going to shock the socks off everyone. Putting this into motion however, acting upon our discovery and decision to make this happen, is going to be b-r-u-t-a-l. It's going to mean Snickers taking on a second job, me taking on the responsibility of all the pre-club hours work, like cleaning, banking and whatnot, and both Snickers and stepping back into the ring. I will be stepping into the ring as a boxer but Snickers will be stepping into the cage as a MMA fighter. Getting in some solid fights and upping not only our image but our personal records is what is going to win the sponsors over with.
Our current boxing club cost us about $110,000 to make and crunching our 3 phase ten year plan into just this year is going to cost us an additional...well, dare I say and risk you peeing your pants here, definitely more than the $110,000 it initially cost us. Ironically enough and quite sadly too actually, I'm a lot more confident about the two of us conquering this challenge of this hefty sum on our own than depending on friends and family to help us reach our Indiegogo goal of $7,000
Realistically, I am prepared for this to take us two solid years but Snickers has it in is mind that this will happen this year. "This will be your last cold winter here", is what he told me, word-for-word. And as unrealistic as his thinking may be, Snickers' best personal quality lies in the fact that when he believes in something he believes in it 100%. He never half-asses anything that he puts his mind to. He proved it when he told his friends he was going to date the foreign chick (me) despite his English being in the minus levels. He then proved it when we had but only a day to find a new apartment -- he found us a massive apartment with 11 rooms that we then lived in a for a couple of years. And he proved it when he said we would open our own boxing club but didn't even have enough money to pay our apartment's hot water bill. I'm sure he has proved it more times than just the three mentioned here but these times were pretty amazing examples. If Snickers wants to do something or wants something, there is simply no stopping him. He may not know how at first how to achieve it but if he has the will then he will find a way, he always has and always will. Stay tuned and you'll see for yourself...again!!!
