As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

An Overdose of Fitness Fun and Fantastic Ideas... Sunday, March 1

It's funny how something can be both the best thing and worst thing that has ever happened to you, well that's exactly what we celebrated today.  Today marked an exceptionally important day for Snickers and so it was rather ironic that we'd be heading out to Seoul to represent Hulk's and meet up with Adidas when not so long ago on this day no one wanted to be connected to Snickers.  This day 9 years ago Snickers was released from prison after serving 3 years, experiencing the worst life had to offer him, and every year we give recognition to this day.  We are grateful for it because jail may very well be one of the best things and worst things that has ever happened to him.  It changed his life forever and put into motion a life no one, including him, ever imagined.  As many know, it was in jail that he started boxing and turned pro.  Nine years later, he now sits in front me in the car as our club's main sponsor drives us to the Sports Expo in Seoul that Adidas had personally invited us  to with hopes of us checking out their new gear.

The expo was flooded with fitness enthusiast, athletes, exhibitors, fitness reps, and pretty much anyone and everyone under the sun who was somewhat remotely connected to fitness and health.  There was absolutely no point of even bothering to look for an exhibit we liked or wanted to visit; we liked them all and visited them all.  Of course we liked some more than others but it was definitely an impressive array of exhibitors.

I got to test out the Mercedes-Benz of treadmills that had a touch screen, I saw a one wheel motorized bikes you stand on, I tried out the new speed line of boxing gloves by Adidas, and tried my hand speed at a boxing sandbag game at another exhibitor's booth.  I tried numerous protein shake mixes and scored 7 free training posters for adding an exhibitor to my KakaoTalk friends list.  Wow had his neck massaged while Snickers bought some new style frisbees and I mingled with some personal trainers.  One super cool but super expensive item on show was that of a suit called "Vision Body".  It looked like a wet suit but it was a wireless electrical muscle stimulation suit that stimulates different muscles on your body according to what exercise you're doing.  It was super high tech but I don't know about wearing a full body suit that has electric currents running through it. Too sci-fi for me but very cool to check out.

We must have left with a few dozen business cards, flyers and brochures and an equally amount of new ideas we'd love to pursue.  Snickers' idea that he walked away, totally absorbed in, was his desire to add a rock climbing wall to his Phase 2 proposal.  I, on the other hand, I definitely would love to add such things like weighted vests, suspension ropes and Bosu balls to Hulk's.  I'd also love to get a pair of pants from Enerskin, a clothing line that has it's own built in compression system via the silicone taping on it. Could definitely use a pair of pants like that for my marathon training.

The expo was flat-out awesome and after an expo show like that I definitely want to do more, get more, and be more.  It was as inspiring as it was educational and very cool.  It was a fitness enthusiast's Heaven on Earth!
