As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Filming and Upper Body... Monday, April 27

Filming for the KBS documentary that I'll be starring in has officially started.  This isn't the first time that I've been the focus on a Korean documentary but I will say this is definitely the first time that I've done one that lets me just be me.  It's only been day one of filming and it was a light day but there was no asking me to do random things out of my norm.  It was just a matter of letting a camera follow me.  With it being the first day of filming, there was just one camera.  Tomorrow more will come, or so I was told.  That's okay.

Today was the first day of filming but it was also the first day of the new week so you know what that means... new people signing up to become Hulkies.  Within the first hour of opening, we got bombarded with new members, three to be exact.  Usually people don't come within the first hour of us opening because we open at 2pm and that's usually when most are either working or at school, but not today.  Today three new members joined as soon as those club doors swung open for business and the KBS camera was there to catch it all.

I didn't get to do my boxing today because of the busyness of how our work day started but I did get in a solid 2km sprint on the treadmill and a mean upper body workout.  And speaking of upper body, I've got two words here -- "concentration" and "curls".  Concentration curls, woozers those are wicked.  They are my new favourite arm exercise because they target and attack your entire arm, not just your biceps or shoulders.

My go-to exercises for anyone who has limited time to train but wants to attack the entire body:
1. ropes
2. hanging leg raises
3. tire flips
...and if you want one more...
4. push-ups

And while such an exercise like the hanging leg raises could be assumed to only target your abs, trust me, if I told you to do a chin-up and then do the leg raises, you'd feel differently.  Many members prefer the sit-up bench and so I ususally pair doing sit-ups on it with weighted shoulder presses and then have them do those plus the ropes and tire flips.  It's quite an intense workout and it definitely leaves your body shocked as to what the heck you just put it through.  Push-ups will always be a favourite of mine because there are so many different styles of push-ups to do depending on what particular body part or parts you want to target.  Diamond push-ups are awesome and getting our Hulkies to do any kind of release push-up has proven to not only help them get stronger but also build up their confidence with doing a push-up and thus not dread them... or not dread them as much, I guess I should say.
