The cherry blossoms are a very sentimental thing to both Snickers and I, to us, and they definitely play a special part in our relationship. You see, back when Snickers and I first started dating, some 6 years ago now, we use to meet under the cherry blossom trees across the street from where I was living at the time. I remember sitting there with him and watching the blossoms fall from the tree. They scattered every where. I had noted to Snickers that they reminded me of weddings. Naturally, he asked why and so I explained to him the notion of throwing white confetti at a Western wedding when the bride and groom exited the church. Snickers then jumped up and tried with all his might to grab at the branches of the tree towering over the bench where we were sitting. When he finally caught hold of the branch, he shook it with all his might and cherry blossoms went every where. I remember hours later, when I returned to my house, I still had cherry blossoms in my hair and even underneath my clothing. To this day, he still does this. He still jumps up to grab the branches and he always comments about it being a Western wedding.
Back then, almost every night like clockwork he and I would meet under the cherry blossoms and talk. He didn't have any money to take me out anywhere and he was too proud of a Korean man to accept any of my money so we'd sit underneath those cherry trees and just chat. Occasionally he'd treat me to a convenience store coffee but he'd always walk home, a walk that took him 40 minutes one way because he didn't even so much as have any bus fare money. I fell in love with Snickers under the beautiful cherry blossom trees of downtown Cheonan so I got a cherry blossom tree tattooed on my back. It's on half of my back but it's not yet done. I started getting it done about two years ago, before we started Hulk's, but once Hulk's took off not only did my effort and time become go all to Hulk's but so did my money.
Heading out to see the cherry blossoms while they're in bloom is always a much anticipated date for us. We usually head out to Daejon where our favourite spot to enjoy them is but we haven't made the trip out there this year. Maybe next weekend we will. Today however we headed out to Bugil for their cherry blossom festival. We found a little spot in the grass to situate ourselves and then we sat cuddled together, enjoying each others company and waiting for the fireworks to start. The fireworks were great but I think my favourite part of today's enjoying of the cherry blossoms was when we walked downtown and passed that bench under the downtown trees where many moons ago we used to sit and chat the hours away.
