Pacquiao lost the so-called "Fight of the Century" against Mayweather.
...no need to really continue this entry here.
His loss was hard enough to accept today though I can't say I'm totally surprised, most of us aren't. And while we all love Pacquiao and recognize the undeniable fact that he is the better man, this was a boxing bout and Mayweather just so happened to be the better boxer in it.
Pacquiao is a hero, he fights on behalf of his people and everyone in the Philippines wants to be just like him. He's a respected fighter, father and he gives back so much to those less fortunate. He even has set up a nonprofit organization in his own name -- The Manny Pacquiao Foundation. The mission of this foundation is to help the underprivileged in the Philippines through providing medical assistance, promoting children's education and providing aid relief for those affected by natural disasters.
Mayweather is an athlete, he fights for the paycheck and though I don't know many who would like to be a woman-beater, I do many who would love to be as filthy rich as him. As a boxer, I respect Mayweather's skills. He's got a crazy long reach and is incredibly fast on his feet with dodging punches. But as a person, I find him disgusting. Mayweather may have self proclaimed himself to be "TBE -- The Best Ever" but I feel this is a fill-in-the-blank or finish-the-sentence label where I'm sure he wouldn't like the answers most would give. I mean, he had Justin Bieber in his personal locker room, come on. If that doesn't scream lame and showing than I don't know what does. What does Justin Bieber know about boxing?! What, is he going to sing a song to Mayweather before his fight, to relax him?! Oh gosh.
The two fight for two totally different reasons and I feel they couldn't be any more different even if they tried.
After the fight, no one at our party really talked about it because we pulling for Pacman to give Money Mayweather a piece of humble pie and that just didn't happen. And no sooner did the fight end but then Facebook blew up with news of the fight which I'm sure is going to even more feed Mayweather's ego and pocket book.
Ahhhh Manny... I'm still very much a Team Manny fan all the way.
