We spent a good chunk of yesterday running around doing errands and a majority of our pit stops had to do with a particular little four-legged boy, Baby Ali.
I've named him, Baby #3, after the greatest boxer of all time, Mohammad Ali, because like Mohammad Ali he is a fighter. Ali came into this world fighting for his first breaths and consequently had Snickers and I fighting to keep his heart pumping. He fights his siblings to get milk from Pyen Chi. But as they continue to get bigger and stronger he doesn't, so his fight has become harder and harder as they pile up on him and fight for Pyen Chi's milk. He often gets crushed under them all and is stuck crying as the others drink the milk and he gets none. He doesn't have much energy to crawl out from underneath them let alone fight them for one of Pyen Chi's nipples so he's not getting enough nutrition. Sometimes Pyen Chi nudges him out of the pile up, other times it's me or Snickers who plucks him from the pile of puppies.
Yesterday we met with the vet, headed to a couple of pet stores and then even met up with one of Snickers' sisters, all because of Baby Ali. We have officially started to bottle feed him and yesterday we collected all the info and needed supplies. I didn't realize how expensive baby stuff was until Snickers sister was kind enough to give us two baby bottles and it was noted that one of them cost $70, yikes!
It's definitely hard to juggle my attention, time and effort with my 3 four-legged babies because Pyen Chi has to be separated from Pac and Balboa. They're in the back doggie room and she's occupying our bedroom with her 7 little ones. But with one of the little ones requiring extra attention and now bottle feeding, it's very exhausting. And so until all these puppies become of age and are put in loving homes, whenever someone asks me why I don't have a baby, I'm telling them it's because I have ten dogs. You'd be surprised the reaction I get when I use this answer, people usually don't inquire more because their jaw has pretty much dropped to the floor.
