As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Oh Canada, You do Me Proud... Wednesday, August 12

I had been asked to come into the club today, to be at the club for the 7am BoxFit class, so I showed up.  It was a lot easier to wake up for it than I thought but perhaps that's because of it being new and me being super overly excited about this particular club and it's potential.  I have an amazing feeling about this place.

Anyways, today's 7am class was a boxercise-style class that consisted of 10 participants.  I talked to a few of them beforehand, one of which was a long time member and one of whom this was the very first class for her.  Oh a virgin to the wonderful, wonderful world of boxing, I love it.  The Boxfit class is very similar to the Boxercise classes I used to teach so I threw this boxing virgin some words of confidence and positive vibes, helped her wrap her hands, and then I even got to work with her and another member in the ring while the main coach continued with the rest of the class, those who were familiar with the class setup and had attended before.

After class I chatted with the manager of the club, Coach Brown.  He took me around the neighbourhood to introduce me to local stores and companies his club is affiliated with and then we continued our talk about everything back at the club.  He put me in the computer system, talked about giving me a key to the main door and he sized me for a club team member sweater.  Apparently I'll be getting sized next week and will be getting custom made Lulu Lemon training clothes for me to wear at the club, very cool.

There are several coaches on staff that teach at PB BoxFit but the two main coaches seem to be Coach Brown and a Polish coach whom they refer to as "The Stick" because he's strict and very set in his ways.  Apparently Coach Brown and The Stick had talked about me yesterday and did their research about me.  They'll be both coaching me.  The Stick was quick to introduce himself, talk to me about my training and then he picked up his cell phone and made a call.  His call ended with him telling me that I'm scheduled for a fight.

Sunday, December 5th I fight out in Edmonton, Canada!!!

Take that Korean boxing... pick that up on your chopstick and digest that, thank you very much.  None of this waiting 9 months.  I haven't been even in the country for 9 days and I've already secured a legit decent fight.

Oh Canada... you do me good; you're making me so very proud.  Thank you.
