As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Bootin' it at Boot Camp... Friday, October 30

One of the things I've been trying to do here is get Canadian sponsors.  I haven't officially asked System Fitness if I can list them as one of my sponsors but they do let me train at their gym for free as well as the owner has extended free membership to his other gym.  Of course I'd list my boxing club but in terms of other sponsors...hmmmm.  I was invited to a boot camp by a company I've been interested in.

Today I attended the boot camp.

There were 6 of us females doing the boot camp together and I was quite surprised that some of them were married with kids and well into their 30's.  That's not to say they weren't fit though like the stereotypical "mommy"; these ladies were modern day mommies.  I argued that carrying their kids around and chasing them around was like doing crossfit training around the clock!

Anyways, so there we were, 6 ladies lined up for training in a church basement gymnasium (which I thought was a pretty awesome location I should add).  The lady on my right actually works as a trainer for the company who had asked me out today which in my head meant she was my biggest competition.  Yes, I know it wasn't a competition, it was a boot camp, an exercise session, but it my head it was game on.  "Let the best athlete win", I told myself, "...because that's going to be me!"

This is why I don't do group classes; I get way too competitive!!!

The coach had us do a series of exercises that had us doing laps around the gym, using weighted poles, and so forth and with every exercise he had us do I gave it my all.  I was going to out train them, out rep them, and out time them, and I proved it in every thing we did especially the last set of exercises.  For the last set of exercises, he had us do 10 push ups, run to the other side of the gym, and then run back.  We had to do that 6 times for a total of 60 push ups and 12 laps.

I out lapped them and that pretty much sealed the deal!!! [Enter me tooting my own horn here but not admitting I just about killed myself.]
