As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

A Night Out at the AGO... Thursday, December 3

I started my day off with my own boxing training but then had a personal training meeting with my girl Z.  She's leaving to return to China this week and so today was our last session today -- best PT client E-V-E-R!!!
I stuck around the club for a bit watching my coworker spar with his buddy.
Their training is always intense and I've got nothing but mad props and respect for everyone and anyone who steps into the ring to fight.
...the Stinky Polack, he actually smiled when I told him to.  This is a first.
After a morning and early afternoon of boxing, I then headed up to System for an early evening of more boxing and then weight training.  Here Man Up and Double J were sparring.
And here's me being silly and trying to pop Double J's head... hahaha.
I'm really trying to get him to go from Muay Thai to boxing so next week I'm personally taking him to Cabbagetown Boxing to introduce him to my sparring partner and her coach.  I really think he could go far and he just really loves training hard.
My Boy J had asked me to join him at the AGO for their first Thursday of the month parties but it wasn't until I looked it up on the Internet that I realized AGO stands for Art Gallery of Ontario.  This meant I had to get dolled up but, you know what, it felt good to finally get out and do something totally disconnected to my boxing.
My Boy J is super adorable and ultra smart, we're close friends, and perhaps that's the only reason why I as a jockette was convinced to get out of my comfort zone and head to an artsy event.  I'm glad I went though.  It was nothing like I had expected.
It was my first time at the AGO and I was way too distracted by the fabulousness of the building itself to really pay 100% to the artwork on display.
I mean come one, look at this.  Standing from an above floor looking down at to where they had set up a bar and food area, the building was stunning.
This was my absolute favourite spot in the gallery.  It felt like I was standing in a ship.  It was almost as if those massive pieces of wood were like the bones of a some kind of massive whale.
There were a ton of things going on, lots to look at and lots to get interactive with, like this particular room with Care Bears.  It was the first room we had walked into.
Note what it says on the paper plate... too funny.  And here I thought the art gallery was just for uptight people... hahaha.
I think what the AGO is doing with their first Thursday of the month parties is pretty awesome because it's really getting out a lot of people who wouldn't regularly check the gallery out, like me.  It was a lot of fun and never in a thousand years would I ever thought a gallery would be matched up with young people, drinks, dancing, and loud music.  I most definitely recommend this event to all who can attend it, for sure!
