Headed back out to Whitby today, this time for the CORRECT date of my teacher's retirement party. It meant I didn't have training but it also meant I got to see my dad again.
I had come extra early because I had a hair appointment with my incredibly talented hair designer friend. I told her I wanted her to put the wow back into my hair.
MISSION COMPLETED!!!
Props to my beautiful friend for the success with really upping my imagine and doing such an amazing job with my hair. I returned to the blonde, got some scratches in my hair, changed up the style, and even extended the shaved part.
I LOVE MY NEW HAIR!!!
I pinky swore to my friend that NO ONE would be ever allowed to touch my hair again.
I will still go to my Barber Shop Boys to keep the one shaved side clean and fresh but my girl out in Whitby is wickedly talented. I had "cheated" on her by going to other stylists but karma bit me on the butt with bad hair and no wow.
With my new fresh head of wicked hair, I then attended my high school teacher's retirement party. The place was packed and the hostess from last week recognised me and had a good giggle. Good times.
Ran into one of my high school friends which I'd like to note was also one of the many
friends who contributed to our Fight for a REAL Ring Indiegogo Campagin.
Felt good to see him and thank him in person.
Couldn't resist enjoying one of the ultra cute but super delish party cupcakes.
And here was the man of the night, my high school teacher Mr. Scott.
This was another one of my teachers, Geo Jones.
I spotted him in the packed crowd, approached him, and he called me out by my full name. I was so incredibly blown away that he had remembered my name because I'm sure he's taught hundreds upon hundreds of students. I was his student over 17 years ago.
Another teacher who remembered me was this lady. She taught me grade 2 and grade 7. It was so great to catch up, cash in on a long-time-no-see hug, and talk to her as an adult as opposed to me as a 12 year old elementary student.
Ended up getting invited out to some live boxing tonight
so I rushed back to Toronto for that.
It was an amateur tournament being held at a church that has since turned into quite the trendy event venue. The place was gorgeous and it was packed with lots of aspiring boxers and both current and past champions.
Note who's back of the head that is, sitting at my table -- George Chuvalo!!!
My former coach and much loved mentor Egerton Marcus, silver medalist Olympion, was there as was his cousin, Troy Ross, Contender Champion and 4th ranked cruiserweight.
I also got to meet up again with Donovan Boucher, Canadian welterweight champion.
My boxing buddy Simon had invited and he always travels with his buddy George so George Chuvalo was also there. Always great to see those two guys.
